    “AMAZING SERVICE AMAZING HOTEL”

This is the second year in a row we have stayed at the barcelo, special thanks to humberto the bell hop, as soon as we arrived he immediately recognized us, welcomed us back and assisted in every way possible. the hotel is amazing, shows every night activities every day always something to do, the service is amazing, excellent food that is always available no matter the time. with so many places to travel we specifically chose to go back to the Barcello just because of the service, and we where never disappointed at any time. The staff is all excellent and would recommend to any body hands down the best time we have had. thank you so much again to everybody at the Barceló, very safe very clean and will not disappoint ever!

    “Amazing vacation!”

The welcome at the airport got it all kicked off. Our room, the service, the food, the drinks were all fantastic. The only thing we were not impressed with was the Italian restaurant on the property. My calzone was burned on the ends and doughy in the middle. Other than that, we enjoyed the pools, night shows, massages, beach (yes, the sand is rough and the beach is tiny), and our room was awesome. Falling asleep and waking to the ocean waves was another highlight. We didn't book any excursions through the hotel so I'm not sure what the pricing is like. Treated us first-class and we will be back.

    “Not a 4.1/2* resort”

I booked this hotel to go on a valentines vacation with my wife and friends. After booking I contacted, via email, the hotel directly and Cindy Saldaña replied with the following extra: a free upgrade to an upgraded room "premium room", a bottle of tequila, chocolate covered strawberries, and one in room breakfast and 25% off of their spa services AT NO ADDITIONAL FEE. Two days before we left I emailed Cindy again to confirm my booking what what she offered me, Cindy never replied to my email so I emailed the reservation desk again and asked asked them for a special arrangement for valentines and asked to verify the added benefits Cindy had offered me, Lucy Carrillo replied to my email and she ignored my question about the upgrade and other offers I received. When we got to the resort I showed the email to Caesar at the front desk and he said let me check and never checked so after he gave me the keys I asked him about the room upgrade, and he said "yes I can upgrade your room for $93 per night" and I told him about the free upgrade once again and he said that we don't have any rooms available come back tomorrow and we will upgrade you. Went back tomorrow and they just changed my room in the same categories. The resort was nice. Rooms need a little maintainable but spacious and descent. They were understaffed so the service was bad. Customer service wasn't that great either. Views and pool were amazing, food was ok and drinks were very weak. Oscar at the buffet was the only helpful server, the manager Alejandro wasn't helpful at all. I wouldn't stay there again. It's better not to promise upgrades if you can't deliver.

    “Just Your Average Resort”

We stayed at the Barcelo in December right before the Christmas rush. Having stayed at some really nice all-inclusives before, we had high expectations. Unfortunately, the Barcelo did not live up to those expectations. It was a purely average resort. The good: the hammocks near the pool were nice (our baby was able to get some nice naps in them--with Mommy or Daddy of course); there were plenty of pools and they were all very clean and the temperatures of the pools was nice; there are a couple of different hot tubs, so there was typically enough room to relax in one; the specialty restaurants had decent food (the Asian and Spanish restaurants were the best); the layout of our premium room (bedroom and living room) was nice; the views are great; the free city tour was good (except for the long stop at the jewelry store); the landscaping was well taken care of; the staff serving at the buffet were nice; the tacos at the snack bar were really good; room service was fast though the food wasn't great; the bellhops were great. The bad: our room was so humid and didn't have enough ventilation, so our bed was wet every night (really gross); the premium check-in is a joke--it would have been faster to go through the normal check-in (there's only one person working so you have to wait in line if there are multiple people in there; the food at the buffet was just average; service at the premium restaurants was not great (we waited 45 minutes just to have our order taken at the Italian restaurant even though we had the first booking because we were traveling with a 5-month-old meaning I had to leave before we were done eating to take her back for bedtime); the bugs were bad (we all had bites and I even was bitten by a spider while they were cutting back some of the growth and left it sitting in a pile on the pool deck); the food at the snack bar (aside from the tacos--which were really good) was not good; even though we paid for premium service, our drinks constantly came back with well liquor (even though we requested the brand-name liquor); we booked a romantic dinner that was advertised in the elevator but none of the staff had any idea what we were talking about (we had to take a picture of the ad with our phones and bring it to the concierge for them to see what we were talking about); the premium lounge liquor bar was never fully stocked and the food there wasn't very appetizing; the spa service was just average (they actually messed up our reservation for that, so we almost didn't get what booked). Overall, we enjoyed our stay (it wasn't a great time and it wasn't a bad time--just okay).

“Fourteen days in this lovely resort”

Our room was on the 7th floor with a wonderful ocean view. The room is very well maintained and very comfortable and clean and our maid Mathilda was fantastic to say the least. I cannot say enough about the incredible staff who made our visit as always the perfect vacation. I hope I remember all the names who made it such a great experience - Hugo and Marcus - a big thank you for all your attention. All the captains and CEO's were always walking around checking and making sure everything was being taken care of. I have many food issues due to health reasons but was always able to find something yummy to eat and if not the chefs there are more than happy to make you something that is not on the menu. I love the theme nights there - always a great variety to choose from. The lamb at Don Quixote Restaurant and the tapas are fantastic and the restaurant has a great ambiance. We also went to the Kyoto and were treated to some special rolls by Victor - I would love to snatch him and bring him to where we live in Mexico - the rolls were spectacular. The new Austrian chef Hans treated us to a dish I used to make called Rouladens - they were a different version but delicious and the gravy - oh I was glad I had bread to sop it up. I want to thank him so much for that treat. The chef at Las Arcos made us Steak and Lobster - well we were just ecstatic for that treat. Also in the buffet the chef - even though he was crazy busy made us his chicken creation which I thoroughly enjoyed. Then there is the restaurant by the pool where Esmeralda creates her delicious tacos and coming from a person who doesn't care for tacos she has me addicted to hers and she is so sweet to be around - always smiling and cheerful. We don't bother with the shows because we have seen so many during our years of travelling and we don't use the Cantina because you cannot escape cigarette smoking there - so due to this problem we are forced to go to our rooms after dinner which puts a bit of a damper on your holiday sadly. The pools are a decent size and there are two hot tubs as well. I never had a problem finding a lounge chair which was great but bring bug spray or you will get eaten alive. Lots of music and activities around the pool area and great for meeting lots of new people and we have met so many great people at this particular resort - more so than any of the Barcelos." Will we go back there - of course - again and again. They truly mean it when they say "Welcome home" because they do everything they can to make you feel at home.
