Barceló Puerto Vallarta reviewed by Heather H on . Beautiful tucked away Resort Really enjoyed being in this small little town, with a public beach. Very friendly and kind locals. Excellent fishing from this village. Mismaloya Adventures is the best one there is. My husband... Rating: 4

The good: The rooms are very nice. Clean, updated, comfortable beds. Easy check in with Gustavo. The Buffet. Great pools. Quiet location. Staff mostly friendly and helpful. Very easy place to hang out comfortably for the week. The not so good: Specialty restaurants are very marginal. Booze is subpar and possibly watered down. The 500$ credit is a joke. Should be more forthcoming about what it really is. The skinny is that it's really pretty nice for the price you pay. Very reasonable. If you don't expect to get 5 star food and service you won't be disappointed. Take the ATV tour in Mislamoya. They show you a great time. The La Jolla boat at the beach is a great guide for snorkeling. Tony's La Choza is steps away and offers a special dinner. Use the bus to get downtown at least once for a fun ride.

When you think of a vacation you expect for there to be A/C and proper electrical appliances, especially when your in Puerto Vallarta!!! Coming in to the hotel there was no A/C in lobby, being in Puerto Vallarta its very humid and hot. There was no wifi included the hotel rooms they made you pay separately if you didn't get a specific package deal. Entering the rooms our hallway lights didn't work, the A/C didn't work, the mini fridge didn't keep the beverages cold, and the tv was very staticky. When we called down to tell them about what was going on they would reply to us with they will be on it, we stayed for 4 days and it was never fixed!!! The bathroom toilets didn't flush, so we had to deal with the stench and they never fixed it!!! There wasn't a lot of options when it came to the buffet and snack bars. The pool was dirty and looked like it's never cleaned. Some of the staff were nice but others had a grumpy and rude attitude. Bed sheets were changed, my little sister had a stain in her sheets that was never removed. My parents bed was full of sand and dirt, even after housekeeping came to clean the rooms!!!! Most guests that would come and visit had stuck up attitudes and were rude!!! The elevators would work and then stop working. Overall had a horrible experience in the hotel but outside the hotel it was way better. Don't stay here unless you want horrible service!

This resort was a little far out of town, but it was worth the drive because the beach was beautiful. The resort was nice and the food was very good. There wasn't a lot of activities like some resorts offer such as a beach party, pool activities, or a night club. They did have nightly shows.

Overall the property is beautiful, and well kept for the age. We experienced power outages due to weather... But that was not the fault of the resort, and they were restored quickly. The food was quite sub-par. Very disappointed in the food quality, and variety

It's really hard to get organized, efficient help. We were told many things by many different staff members. The wifi worked just fine as long as you logged into it multiple times through the day. When we upgraded we were moved to a filthy room. There was a used condom hanging on the lamp in the room our children were to sleep in, hair in the showers and oil? grease? filth? smeared on the walls. The food was not bad, the restaurants all served the same things. The staff (not management) were amazing. Truly kind people. The DJ was cool, we had fun. The poor pool bartender was on the go non-stop. A few American guests were the worst part. They are the only ones loudly complaining about kids being at the resort, as they're acting like it's spring break 1998. Give me a break. The vendors on the beach and along the road to the resort were con artists. The city tour that we got when we upgraded to premium was really awesome. Do NOT pay for Expedia's shuttle service to/from the resort. It's way more expensive than grabbing a local taxi and those are in abundance. Loved the location of Barcelo and the convenience of all-inclusive, but we will have to shop around next time.
