Golf enthusiasts will find a lot to love at Barceló Hotels throughout the world. Thirty-six hotel golf locations cater to all kinds of players from scratch golfers to bogey scorers. What’s more, non-golfers will have plenty of fun activities to keep them happy at the hotel, while players enjoy themselves at some of the best courses in Spain, Mexico and Costa Rica, among others.

Golf in Spain

The Costa del Sol along the Mediterranean coastline is home to numerous golf courses that are easily accessible by guests of the Barceló Marbella hotel. The adjacent Guadalmina Golf Club boasts two courses, one with 18 holes and one with nine. Golfers can perfect their swing by hiring golf instructors available through the hotel.

There are five golf courses near the hotel to discover and enjoy, including the championship El Paraiso that lies between La Concha Mountain and the Mediterranean. At Los Naranjos, players wind their way through orange groves. Farther afield is the only links golf course in southern Europe: Alcaidesa Links.

Enthusiasts who want a top-ranked course can head for Cádiz on the Atlantic coast. The Barceló Montecastillo offers golf with free, unlimited green fees on its own course. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, it has been named one of the best golf courses in Spain.

For groups with varying levels of skill, Barceló Costa Ballena Golf & Spa is a fantastic golf resort. Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club is known for being a challenge for experts but forgiving for those who are learning the sport.

Mexico, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic

Another golf tourism destination is Manzanillo in Mexico. Guests at the Barceló Karmina will find Las Hadas, a spectacular course where the 18th hole is on an island next to the hotel. Just 45 minutes from the hotel, the 27-hole Isla Navidad course enchants players with views of mountains, meandering lagoons and the ocean. Twelve kilometres from the hotel, Corazon de Manzanillo is a private course set in sand dunes.

Barceló Ixtapa Beach, located north of Acapulco, is adjacent to Palma Real golf course. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., great care has been taken to balance native vegetation with the needs of golfers. The La Marina course is also located nearby. The hotel regularly has special offers on greens fees.

Costa Rica is the site of the Barceló Tambor hotel, located on the Nicoya peninsula. The hotel partners with Los Delfines, which may be the only course in the world where a flock of scarlet macaws shares the space with golfers. The hotel offers complimentary green fees.

The Barceló Bávaro Beach is an adults-only resort in the Dominican Republic that offers an 18-hole championship golf course. It winds through a mangrove forest past 25 inland lakes. This beautifully maintained course was designed by the renowned P. B. Dye. It incorporates native plants around the greens and fairways.
