    “Great Place to Stay, especially if needing to be close to Rota”

    Place had a nice feel to it, beds were comfy. Shower was warm and had good pressure. Nice view off the patio. Not a long drive to Rota Base, easy to get to and from. Breakfast was on point, Staff was friendly every time we needed something.

    “Golf in Autumn 2017”

    We spent 9 days at Barcelo Coasta Ballena in beginning of October The exceptionally hot weather was a little too much for us but the air conditioning in our room worked well. Service great as usual. The outdoor pool area has been upgraded with new benches and sunscreens, a good improvement. Breakfast excellent, buffet OK, but not as good variety as last year.

Every morning we offer more than 180 products, live cooking and local as well as international food options. The whole team of the hotel has an inexhaustible motivation and a huge desire to make our guests happy.     “Disappointed”

    We stayed for two nights last June, after staying at the Barcelo Montecastillo outside of Jerez for 3 nights.I was attending a Rota High School class reunion, and was excited to stay on the outskirts of Rota for a few days. We stay at the Barcelo Maya Palace in Mexico every year, and I was expecting the quality and ambiance to be similar. I decided to reserve a suite, but did not see anything on the web site stating that all of the suites are up a very steep set of steps. After check in,we walked down the hall, found our room number, opened the door, expecting to walk into a wonderful room, but instead were staring at a stairwell ascending up almost 90 degrees. They do not have bellmen, and we were not about to drag our suitcase up these steps, so I left my husband in the dismal looking hallway, and went back to the front desk. After explaining our situation, (60 year olds, both with back issues) I sat in a chair in the lobby and waited, hoping there was another room available. Finally they summoned me, and gave me a new room number. Grateful, I went up to retrieve my husband and our suitcases, and walked to our "new" room. It was nice, but nothing special. It was tired looking, and the AC did not keep the room cool.We had to call maintenance to come "look at it".The furniture in the lobby has been reupholstered-too bad they didn't do the same in the rooms. We had a nice view, and the bathroom was a good size, however It is absolutely ridiculous for Barcelo to charge guests extra for a room safe! The parking up front is awkward, and there is a daily parking fee. The lobby is large and there are plenty of seats. They have a small gift shop, lobby bar, and "restaurant". We went down and met our friends, after unpacking, for lunch and a cocktail. They only had one bar tender, who was also the only waiter. It took forever to get served, no fault of this over stretched employee.How can they only have one person working, besides a man who "bussed the tables"? The main pool area was full of loud happy kids, so we went to the other pool. It did not have a "tiki bar" like the other pool, no music, and was very boring. This hotel is not close to the beach, so there are no sea breezes to cool down the levante winds or just hot temperatures in the summer. The one thing I was impressed with was the quality of the breakfast buffet. We ate dinner off property, so I don't know anything about the dinners. Overall this hotel was a disappointment. The lay out is awkward- you have to walk very long distances through boring hallways to get to rooms. They don't have bellmen. The front desk and restaurant/bar were under staffed, However, the employees were extremely nice and I appreciated that, as well as their positive attitudes. The nightly entertainment by the pool looked great, but did not start until 10 PM. Usually I am sad to leave a wonderful hotel, but was anxious to move on to Seville after our two night stay here. It's the Barcelo company that needs to make necessary changes, and the nice employees have nothing to do with my negative comments.

We feel sorry that the design neither of the suite nor of the room was not to your liking. Please note, on our homepage or by our reservation department is explained clearly that guests have only access to suites via a private staircase, also it is recommended that this might be not convenient for guests with reduced mobility or families with young children as the stairs are not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs. However we are upset that your stay started in this unhappy way. Your opinion regarding the state of maintenance has been transmitted to the hotel management and will be taken in consideration. It is important for us to point out that our facilities are in the process of continuous improvement to ensure fulfilling always the high standards set by our brand. Inform you that according to current tourist legislation, only 5 star hotels must have porters. We, like all other 4 star hotels in the city, do not have that service. Further, we would like to mention that the staff are perfectly structured for hotel occupancy. Unfortunately, however, some waiting time may be unavoidable during peak occupancy and peak times as in any other establishment. On the other hand, we thank you for highlighting the kindness of our staff. All of them indeed work passionately offering attentive service to ensure that our guests feel well taken care of at all times.     “Golf trip”

    16 of us stayed at this hotel/golf resort and found it a nice place to stay and play golf,club house is approximately a 10 minute walk but as like the courses it is flat,food was good with a fair selection and rooms were sufficient,reception staff were great whilst bar staff could do with help in the evening as it got busy and they got overrun with the amount of guests trying to order drinks,in a whole I wor stay again atvthis hotel.
