“Wall to Wall Sunshine which is what we were seeking!”

Stayed 9th to 16th March. Island did not live up to its name of the windy island instead for 6 out of the 7 days it was a gentle breeze which was most welcoming in the sunshine. The beach is a fabulous space if you wish to be on your own or join the throngs around the very long foreshore. On our penultimate day a load of jelly fish were washed up but they seemed pretty innocuous. Had a reasonable hike from our room to the main dining area but was not a problem. Cleaners turned up everyday and did whatever was asked of them. Food was somewhat repetitive but could always find something to eat, We came for the sun at the end of the day. Room worked well as did the ensuite only dislike was the mattress cover which was thick and crinkled and disturbed my sleep as well as made me sweat a lot. The snack bar was good as were the selection of wines for all inclusive and the rum which we drank copious amounts of with fresh orange juice. The hotel was in winter mode so not all facilities were available. All in all we had a good time and would go back again due to the location. Somewhat miffed however to now receive adds for same place, all inclusive for much less than we paid when we booked last August!

“A really nice hotel and great staff”

We have just returned from our last minute holiday- family of 3 ( 2 adults and 3 years old child). We went for all inclusive and can't complain- good food, snacks and selection of soft drinks, wines, beer, spirits etc. We liked the tropical and well kept garden and amazing beach! Our room was very specious, cleaned daily, bottled water in the fridge. we have received a cot bed, kettle and selection of tees and coffees free of charge. 5 star customer service in the main restaurant and snack bar. They all worked very hard and mostly with a big smile and ready to help. I would like to mention Alex from Barcy Kids Club. Well done and thank you for keeping our child happy and entertained! Great job! She is a big treasure. Overall a good hotel with a great customer service.

    “March Hol”

My wife and I have just spent 10 days on a all-inclusive basis and have a very good holiday. The check-in was fast and efficient we were allocated an apartment in block 3 and were taken there on a buggy with our luggage. The room itself was spacious with a large bathroom with bath and shower but getting the temperature of the shower exactly right was a challenge as it kept going cool and then hot.The room was cleaned every single day and to a very high standard. The food was exactly as you expect for an all-inclusive resort, buffet type with plenty of choice but meal times could be a bit chaotic at peak but the staff worked extremely hard to ensure you weren't kept waiting for a clean table too long. During the day there was only 1 bar available in the snack bar as the pool bar was shut for renovation but didn't actually see any work being done. The main bar was open at 3 p.m. near reception, at times this was under-staffed but again the staff were very hard working getting any queues down very quickly. My only complaint was at night time when the evening entertainment was on in the downstairs bar area there wasn't enough seating for everyone yet the hotel as a theatre which wasn't used even though it would have been more than spacious. The pool areas were large and no matter what time of day you wanted to sun bathe there was always plenty of sunbeds available. We liked the location of this hotel as it wasn't far to the beach or the shops. We will definitely be returning to this hotel, the hard working and pleasant staff are a credit and probably deserve a pay rise.

“It's ok, but it's not the best”

I sit here connected to the hotel WiFi writing this review. Whilst we are on this subject I feel it's prudent to tell you that although the hotel advertises free WiFi throughout - this is not the case. In fact the WiFI does not work at all with Apple devices. I have got a iPad Pro & iPhone and neither will allow the WiFi to work. My partners devices are much the same. The only way we can connect and use the WiFi is through the laptop that we've bought. So, this is my first time in an Occidental hotel and what's my thought. Well the first thing that I noticed was the fantastic smell throughout the hotel. I noticed there are aromatise machines dotted all around the hotel which guarantee's a pleasant smell wherever you are. The cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel are fantastic, this includes the grounds and the shrubbery. I cannot fault this. The cleanliness of the toilet is reflected in this comment also. As others have correctly identified, which I agree, the pools in the hotel are absolutely frozen. For someone who has visited the Canary Islands quite a lot - I am surprised that they are keeping them this cold, because it doesn't match other hotels surrounding it. The beach is a decent walk away, perhaps 10 minutes or so. Yes, there are a lot of steps or ramps, but the hotel is built in a volcanic cliff - what do you expect. I have noticed some wheelchairs etc around the hotel, so it's definitely accessible for the disabled. There are also golf buggies available should you need a lift. Towels are available for a 10 Euro deposit, and they also charge 2 Euro for each time you change the towel - a bit strange given they change the room towels for free each day. Additionally, the higher your room number the further away from the main building you are. We are in room number 6108 - which is two blocks from the main building. The food offered in the hotel, I hear you ask? Well, frankly speaking - rubbish. The quality is very poor, there is a lot of greasy food on offer here for both lunch and dinner. Even Brussel sprouts are cooked in some kind of oil. I mean, really? There is a snack bar which opens at 10:00am and offers self-service drinks including coffee's, soft drinks and Tropical beer. Anything else you require you simply order from the bar. The food on offer here is not in favour of those wishing to eat healthy. There are plenty of hot dogs, pizza slices and 'mixed burgers' available. As for the fresh fruit section - well half of it is withered. The bananas are half-dead. The apples are fine. The melon is fine, but empties very quickly and not refilled. This repeats throughout the other restaurant which you can visit for lunch and dinner. By the way, the food offered in the main restaurant from 13:00 onwards is a repeat of the food offered in the evening - not ideal given that some of it is simply reheated for the evening (confirmed by the staff). The drinks here are also self-service - I quite like this idea but you do see people taking advantage and removing wine from the bar and taking it out of the restaurant. I read a lot of reviews about the staff being very friendly and cannot do enough for you. Frankly the only evidence of this I see is those who are tending the bar. The reception staff are actually the worst for customer service. I was unlucky enough that I needed to get the help of a doctor quite urgently and the lady on reception left me waiting for 20 minutes whilst she very blatantly flirted with a guest. Not ideal when you need help immediately. I was advised by the on-site doctor that there has been a bout of sickness in this hotel - so you may wish to think about this prior to visiting. He did state that it's worse in the winter months, than the summer. We were unlucky enough to fall victim to this, but the doctor albeit expensive was spot-on and providing a quick cure for the illness. To summarise, make your own conclusion - don't ever rely on anyone else's review as we do no always agree with others. For example, I do not feel the staff are very courteous to our needs but others say they are fantastic. The hotel is good, the weather here is always lovely - but in my opinion, it's not worthy of the 4* rating it currently boasts.

“Mixed feelings , some good some not so good”

Liked the hotel layout and location, the staff were very helpful and friendly, however the hotel fell short of what you would expect of a four star establishment. The rooms are large and comfortable, but now looking dated and need of refurbishment Only one bar serving the whole hotel and pool area during the day, which was understaffed by a very hardworking single operator. The pool bar being closed for refurbishment, albeit no work taking place. At other times the bars were understaffed, busy and chaotic at times International buffet was bland and uninspiring, with no alternative dinning option, the first time i have experienced this in a four star hotel. You could uprade to royal level at a considerable cost, but not able to comment on what you get for your money. I cant speak highly enough of the staff, they worked like trojans to ensure we had a good stay, but they are in my opinion and experience understaffed. Unlikely to stay here again.
