Barceló Málaga reviewed by PatK428 on . Great wheelchair facilities Lovely hotel in great location for travel. Good facilities for wheelchair user guests. The lounge is a little too quirky for my taste and did not lend itself to cosy relaxation, but is a talking... Rating: 5

“Hotel Barcelo excellent hotel in Malaga”

Very nice, clean hotel right next to the train station and shopping centre and only a short walk to the main centre of Malaga. One thing which was a let down was the pricing of the buffet. I think this was a bit expensive €16 pp for breakfast.

    “Birthday weekend”

Super modern hotel, huge bed, very clean and a great breakfast buffet. It was a bit further to the old town than we thought but the building is connected to the train station. The service by reception was also excellent.

“Comfy, modern hotel well placed for train and airport journeys”

We had an early flight home and after reading bad reviews of hotels close to the airport booked the Barcelo. It was an excellent choice. We had been staying in Serville and arrived back at the Maria Zambrano train station. The hotel is above the main station and is in a clean and comfortable shopping centre. It is signposted and accessed from the concourse - its next to the entrance/exit to the main train station. Our room was also clean, modern and quiet. The next morning we jumped on the train on the local commuter line (again in the concourse underneath the hotel) and travelled to the airport for less than 2 Euros each. The journey took about 15 minutes. While in Malaga we walked to the marina which is well worth a visit - there are lots of bars and shops. While it is a flat walk, the marina is about 20 minute away. Basically come out of the front of the train station - walk ahead - take a right turn as soon as you can see the cranes at the port. You then keep the sea on your right and walk to the marina.

“Very livable hotel 15 mins walk from Old Town ”

We really enjoyed the hotel. It sits right atop the main train station (safe and clean area), so is very easy to get to from the airport. It's about a 15 min easy walk to the old town. Not a lot of restaurants near the hotel, but their own fine dining restaurant is very good. Clean and contemporary rooms.

    “Not a good experience”

My husband and I stayed on 18/2 this was to celebrate our anniversary, @ 3am in the morning we were woken up by water coming into our room due to a storm, we were on the 3rd floor 🤔We were up to our ankles in water, my husband made his way to reception and the porter came up to inspect, the room was absolutely flooded, he moved us to another room but we left our belongings in there and said we would collect the next day. We couldn't get back to sleep and we had a long day ahead traveling back to Alicante, I spoke with someone on reception and informed him that I was not happy with the situation, I said we would need to stay another night as we were too tired to travel. He said he would speak to the manager and call me and let me know what they were going to do for our inconvenience. I received a call to say that our stay would be complimentary, which we thought was due given the circumstances. We checked out on the Monday on 20/2 and we were given an invoice for €16 for room service, which we paid, so we very surprised to find that they had taken payment without providing us with an invoice for one night?????? 😡😡My husband called and spoke with the manager who said that they would only be honouring the first night free, to say we are angry is an absolute understatement not only is it a pure cheek as they have spoiled our anniversary but they didn't even mention at check out that they were charging us, also the anniversary gift a 100ml of Tom Ford cologne was stolen by a member of staff and when addressed was swept under the carpet, if that is the standards at which this hotel is ran then I'm would not recommend it to anyone👎👎
