Water activities with children, a sea made just for them

One of the great things about Torremolinos is that most of its beaches are ideal for kids, offering wide stretches of sand, calm seas and shallow waters near the shore.

Add to that the designated play zones like beach football and volleyball, and you’ve got a recipe for fun.

Depending on the age of our little swimmers, the Mediterranean can become the ultimate water playground, helping turn them into true water sports lovers.

Along beaches like La Carihuela and Playamar, you’ll find places to rent a pedal boat for a short trip on the sea or shops selling snorkel masks, an activity the whole family can enjoy to explore underwater treasures without needing to dive too deep.

Kayaking and paddle surfing are also a big hit with children. On several of Torremolinos’s beaches, you can hire boards or canoes and even book beginner lessons with age-appropriate programmes designed to make it safe and fun for kids to learn.

Older children can also try windsurfing or kitesurfing at the windier beaches, though you’ll need to check the age requirements.

One activity the whole family can enjoy together is a catamaran trip to spot dolphins. They leave from nearby ports and are a magical experience with children, especially at sunset.

Adventure activities for children ready to cross rope bridges

If you’re after real adventure, near the Plaza Mayor shopping centre is a paradise for thrill-seeking kids: Jungle Family Park. It covers 13,000 square metres and features over 30 activities, including zip lining, trampolines, dry river tubing and jeep rides through the park.

Children under two go free, and all other attractions are grouped by minimum height requirements to ensure everyone’s safety.

Halfway between adventure and water lies Crocodile Park, home to creatures that have been around for more than 200 million years. With a guide, you can learn all about the Nile crocodile, spectacled caiman and American alligator. There also bearded dragons, several species of turtles and jellyfish.

Also near Plaza Mayor is a go-kart track specially designed for younger drivers, where they can take the wheel on their own and race along over 800 metres of track. It’s a family-friendly venue, so if any grown-ups want to feel like Fernando Alonso, they’re welcome to join in too.

Theme and water parks: where adrenaline meets water

Aqualand Torremolinos is a fantastic family option, especially in summer when the heat lingers and the water rides are even more refreshing.

The park has something for all ages, with a play area for younger children and shallow pools alongside giant slides, doughnut rides and other attractions that ramp up the excitement.

If it’s dry-land thrills you’re after, there are fairground stalls dotted around town, especially during the festivities of San Miguel.

Recommended beaches with children: La Carihuela and Playamar

In general, the beaches in Torremolinos are ideal for families, with calm seas along this stretch of coast and shallow waters in most swimming areas.

If we had to choose, Playamar and La Carihuela are the favourites among families. Both are in central Torremolinos, easy to reach and offer long, wide stretches of sand where you can still find space even in summer.

They’re also packed with beach bars, toilets, showers and children’s play areas, along with marked zones for volleyball and beach football, offering loads of ways to enjoy a full day by the sea.

Other beaches in Torremolinos, like Bajondillo and Los Álamos, also offer plenty of amenities for families with young children and calm waters in both cases.
