Located just outside Marrakech, the Agafay Desert unfolds across a landscape of rocky hills and open horizons, with the Atlas Mountains rising in the distance. Less visited than the Sahara, this area offers a quieter setting to experience Morocco’s desert scenery.
The experience begins near a local oasis, where you are welcomed and introduced to the activity. You will receive a traditional cheich, a practical headscarf used for sun protection and commonly worn in desert regions.
You will then set off on a camel ride lasting around one and a half hours, following trails that cross this distinctive terrain. The slow pace allows you to take in the surroundings and appreciate the stillness of the desert.
During the excursion, there is a stop at a traditional tent, where Moroccan mint tea is served alongside local specialities. Lunch is enjoyed in the same setting, offering a relaxed break in the middle of the landscape.
This combination of scenery, local customs and unhurried rhythm provides a different perspective on the desert, well suited to those looking to disconnect from the city.
A calm and immersive way to experience Agafay while enjoying the hospitality of its surroundings.
