Just outside Marrakech, the Agafay Desert stretches across a dry, rocky landscape where the light transforms the scenery throughout the day. Far from the crowds of the Sahara, it offers a more intimate way to experience Morocco’s desert environment.
The day begins with a camel ride, allowing you to move slowly through the terrain while following traditional paths once used by local communities. A protective scarf is provided, both practical under the sun and closely linked to desert culture.
After this first part of the journey, there is time to pause and enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch served in a Berber tent. The menu features regional dishes such as tagine or couscous, prepared locally, with a vegetarian option available on request.
Later in the day, the experience takes on a more dynamic tone with a quad bike ride lasting around two hours. Driving across rocky tracks and open areas, you will explore wider sections of the desert while taking in expansive views of the surroundings.
As the afternoon light softens, the landscape shifts in colour, creating a quieter and more atmospheric setting that brings the day to a close.
A balanced itinerary that blends tradition, local cuisine and outdoor exploration in one of the most distinctive settings near Marrakech.
