    “AF Ball Venue”

    Good location for a quiet get away. Need more amenities but solid location for family and couples to relax and enjoy the area. Room were decent and the people were generous. The check in counter was small and should have more information regarding the hotel and area.

    “A relaxing weekend ”

    Visited this hotel for 2 nights in early September as a weekend break to escape the city. Cannot fault anything, it was brilliant. Upon arrival we parked for free a few metres from reception where we were checked in promptly and efficiently with a smile. Our room was located on the first floor and was very comfortable and clean. We had a view of the convention centre and pool area. The bed was arranged as two large single beds put together which suited us very well, although I am sure some people would not like two beds, but I am sure if requested it could be changed. I liked the inclusion of the kettle with tea and coffee in the room. The air conditioning worked perfectly and there was plenty of storage. I would have liked a socket in the walk beside the bed in order to plug my phone into, but that didn’t bother me at all. We had booked half board for a very reasonable price. Breakfast was served just one floor downstairs and dinner at the separate Golf resort, a few hundred metres away. (3 minutes walk away via an underpass near the convention centre pool) Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. I particularly enjoyed the fresh honeycomb, a real novelty. However, the toaster was quite small and slow. Please consider getting another to speed things up. On the other hand, dinner was excellent. Everything we ate at the buffet was delicious on both nights, my favourite dishes however were the gazpacho and the warm soup. They offered a simple vegetable soup both nights which I had with some bread and cheese and it was extremely delicious. One of the best vegetable soups I have ever had! There are several pools on site and we used two of them during the weekend. The hotel at the Convention Centre has been newly built, it was almost empty throughout the hours we spent there. It was well sized and well presented. We also used the Adults Only pool at the Golf resort (facilities are shared between the two hotels) which was larger and had more shaded area to relax but it filled up very quickly. There was only one tiny thing which could have improved at both pools and that was a bar. We would have happily enjoyed a cocktail or two there and it was a shame we weren’t able to. We however just popped into Ricardo’s at the Golf resort and enjoyed one afterwards. Overall a great stay, made even better by the outstanding service we received from every member of staff throughout. Would recommend this place to anyone, we will see you again soon!

    “Noooooooooooooooooooo!”

    8 Of Us On A Golf Trip We arrived and the greeting seemed friendly, if not, a little too detailed. I spent longer at reception filling forms in and listening to hotel procedures than I would have liked, but probably a personal thing than a hotel issue. It was explained that we were upgraded for the evening due to us having to change rooms on day 2 of a 5 day stay. Changing rooms mid stay is not ideal-the first thing most travellers wants to do is unpack on arrival, adjust to the new bedroom and facilities and find the bar! What’s the point of unpacking if you’re moving again tomorrow? Not the end of the world though! Day 2-continuously told different times that our new room would be ready. This involved continuously queuing at reception for between 15-45 minutes each time to be told numerous mis-truths regarding the availability of our down graded room. When we were finally moved ‪at 3pm‬ our rooms went back to basic, something that wasn’t clearly explained on arrival. Gutted-no longer having a balcony or a decent view. I was ill and needed to sleep in peace, but couldn’t due to the wait for the room. Not the end of the world, I would go and speak to reception. The queuing for reception is a joke. You wait for ages (regularly for 45 minutes in a makeshift queue) whilst local people and it seemed most people who weren’t British pushed in. There is no guest relation, or customer service desk, so every matter of questions goes through reception, causing long queues and delays. No sign of a manager with an ounce of knowledge that could ease situations by offering practical solutions. If they had a decent manager he might’ve offered to find us and keep updating us on the room problems rather than the paying guests spending their holiday queuing for long periods. Seriously? Why weren’t we upgraded for our duration? On finally reaching the front of the queue and getting angry with ignorant queue jumpers, I was then passed around like a hot potato whilst the receptionists attempted to avoid dealing with my issues-I’m guessing due to the fact that they’d realised that their treatment of us wasn’t good. Day 3 and throughout the rest of the holiday the reception and the bar staff treated us like 2nd class citizens due to us either being British or all inclusive...or both! Not all British are hooligans and abusive alcoholics, so why were we treated like them! The bar service was sporadic at best, grumpy, surly and blatantly rude bar staff. Rude bar staff in hospitality, that aren’t hospitable and hate serving drinks....go figure. We resorted to tipping the bar staff to encourage prompt service...I’m not sure how the service became worse after tipping, but it did! Unbelievable. All inclusive finished at 11pm, pool didn’t open until 11am, no drink service round the adult pool, housekeeping staff that kept you awake in the afternoon by communicating to each other by shouting over their music they were playing. If I ever find myself here again I’ll take the first blow-up pink flamingo on the sea and paddle home without oars. One final thought....why are food temperatures on the hot and cold buffet never tested and recorded? Basic food hygiene requirements that are simply not completed gives a poor impression of due diligence. I was served pink undercooked chicken on the first evening-off putting, to say the least. This resulted in a tummy upset for 3 days. Flys are already an issue in the food and drink areas. This hotel has huge potential and could be amazing, sadly it doesn’t have the right staff/management/ownership to realise its potential at the moment and some drastic action is required to turn it around.

     Dear customer, Although we are quite surprised and dismayed by the content of your review regarding your holiday at our Barceló Montecastillo Golf , please rest assured that your comments have been taken onboard and revised by the entire Management team, however we would like to take this opportunity to clarify certain aspects of your review as a simple matter of exactness of the information reported. All the information that we request from our clients upon arrival, are those required by the police. It is the usual registration in our country, which stipulates the law. Upon arrival, the reception colleague informed you of the possibility of giving you a room upgrade the first night, being accepted by you. The next day, you changed rooms, although the upgrade was maintained, since you contracted room was a superior one, not golf view room. We apologize for the misunderstanding, had we known that the offer was not to your liking, we would have assigned you the contracted room from the first moment. Generally, guests know the schedules of the services contracted with us before arrival at the hotel, because they are published on their own website and it is information that all our collaborators have. We receive numerous guests on an all-inclusive basis throughout the year, receiving very positive ratings of our food and beverage service. During your stay, there were many customers who made use of the buffet without news of anyone's discomfort due to the food. Even so, we have taken good note of your constructive criticism and informed our chef to avoid such situations in the future. We have a Guest Experience Manager service with presence in front of the reception, service announced in the common areas. On the other hand, as you could see, at the entrance of the restaurant at each service, the maitre was accompanied by Management staff. We are very sorry for your comment regarding the management of your discontent, we have no record of any complaint from your group during the stay. We would have been delighted to meet all your needs during your stay, to improve your experience in our facilities. In the future, do not hesitate to request reception from the Hotel Management. We genuinely appreciate the time you took out of your day to inform us of the inadequacies you experienced during your stay and we sincerely hope that you will allow us another opportunity to demonstrate our true level of hospitality and interest in serving you properly in the future.     “Quiet and comfortable”

    Short overnight stay. Sure wish we had longer! Nice property will all the comforts one would like. Bed was large and comfortable. Small fridge and large television. Great view! Bathroom was large and well equipped, but a bit dark. More lighting would be an improvement. Restaurant wasn't too busy and the food good, served in a buffet style. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant!

    “Such beautiful and quiet place bathed is sunshine”

    Very beautiful and quiet place with plenty of sunshine. There is an aura of amazing peace surrounding this property that always refreshes me so much. Very nice hotel with beautiful green surroundings, very nice pools and friendly staff. This was my 5th year in a row staying there and I am going back next May again.

    “Quiet and comfortable”


    Short overnight stay. Sure wish we had longer! Nice property will all the comforts one would like. Bed was large and comfortable. Small fridge and large television. Great view! Bathroom was large and well equipped, but a bit dark. More lighting would be an improvement. Restaurant wasn't too busy and the food good, served in a buffet style. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant!

    Very beautiful and quiet place with plenty of sunshine. There is an aura of amazing peace surrounding this property that always refreshes me so much. Very nice hotel with beautiful green surroundings, very nice pools and friendly staff. This was my 5th year in a row staying there and I am going back next May again.
