    “Pleasurable hotel, challenging golf”

    This is a very well appointed hotel with a pleasant staff. The only downside was the heating and cooling system which no mater what the setting created an environment for hatching baby chicks. The solution was to turn it off and open an outside door. The golf course is spectacular and very challenging. Unfortunately in spite of our signaling ahead of time that we need two left handed club rentals we ended up with a women's set which for a premium golf course is unacceptable. Also whoever thought that a hotel should specialize in golf and motorcycle racing at the same time needs a rethink.

    “Incredible”

    The hotel is exceptional! Unforgettable breakfast, really one of the best ones we've ever had! Rooms are very spacious with very comfortable beds. We visited just for an overnight stay while travelling across Spain and this was a very fortunate stop.

    “Horrible stay. Three room changes in 3 hours. Ants and spiders all over one room, broken tv in another, third”

    Went through three rooms to stay one night. First room was a minor issue, broken TV, spider webs with living spiders in the corner of the room (two of them). Second room was inundated with ants. I don't mean a few, I mean, and I have video to prove it, but thousands and thousands running in lines and all over all four walls of the bathroom. My wife turned on the water to take a shower and they came running out of holes and cracks in the wall from many places (guessing water leak, which would make sense based on condition of the wall). She came screaming out of the shower. Afraid to go back in. Towels to dry her off so we could move had to be shaken free of ants to dry off. At 10:30pm, when we had to move for the third time in 2 hours after arrival. We were moved to the third floor, carrying our bags on our own with no help between every one of the three room changes, back and forth to the front desk, managers in each room for much of the time trying to fix issues. Zero peace on this trip. We were at this hotel for 12 hours and 3.5 was spent dealing with issues (wouldn't stay a day longer). The resolution offer from the management? Two free tickets to a buffet at 10:30pm. ZERO reduction in cost. We had no desire to eat their buffet and declined their 1 star offer at an alleged 5 star hotel. Once in our third room the next day we saw the view from our balcony was that of a city after a war. The building directly across from the hotel were only built half way and abandoned 10 or so years ago. Left in horrible condition. This was our view. Our last room, the "good one", had no handle to one of the closet doors. Just broken off and gone. All of the above is supported by photos. Do not stay here! I will be taking up my complaints with Booking.com, which I booked 100+ room night per year with for over a decade, and with my credit card company. We did not get close to what we paid for. I would say RUN away from this hotel, as the photos show.

     Dear guest, Firstly, we were very disappointed to read your experience during your stay in our Barceló Jerez Montecastillo hotel, whilst an apology will regrettably not alter the outcome of your experience on this occasion, please believe we do extend it with all sincerity. It is of great concern to read the inconveniences you experienced during your stay as they are not the regular feedback we receive from our guests. For this reason, we assure you we are taking very seriously your comments and analysing them with the entire management team to develop an improvement plan. With regards to the rooms, we will share the inconveniences caused by it with all involved departments with the purpose of avoiding immediately those kinds of situations in the future. We take this opportunity to inform you that our Hotel carries out a pest control with certified companies. But unfortunately, our location and the climatology make very hard to exterminate all of them. We guarantee you that we will investigate the incident to find the source of the problem. We would like to also apologize for not being able to assist when moving rooms as we always offer the chance to help our guests with their luggage. Of course we will investigate why this help was unavailable. It saddens us to read that the gesture offered by our duty manager was not what you expected as we always study the situation and inconveniences of the stay to offer the most appropriate solution. To conclude we would like to clarify the described situation with the unfinished buildings across from the hotel. These belong to a construction company, not associated with the hotel, that stopped working on them. We extend our most sincere apology for the impact this may have caused. We sincerely regret reading that your stay was not as pleasant as it should have been, and we would be very pleased to welcome you again in the future ensuring you in advance of our utmost commitment to make your next Barceló holiday experience an unforgettable one for all the right reasons.     “Great Value Golf Resort”

    My wife and I stayed for 4 nights as part of a touring holiday. We stayed in a one bedroom villa which offered space and a large balcony. The living area decor though was dull and the tiles on the floor appeared to be in need of replacement. However if we returned to this resort we would choose again the villa option. The food is buffet style and of a reasonably high standard, although a la Carte is available if required. A nice touch at breakfast is the smoothie blended by a nutritionist to suit your needs. The golf course ranked among my personal favourites in Spain, and the swimming pool and garden sunbathing area I thought were excellent. Worthy of mention is the friendliness of the staff and in particular Lorena.

    “Never more, even is next to Jerez circuit.”

    First at all we can not sleep as the smell at the hotel was disgusting, really disgusting and strong. THe Rooms you feel are not finished as you see the air conditioned control at the wall not functioning, they made the solution with splits, ridiculous and a lot to say about the management of that situation. The water at the bathroom seems not being cleaned in months, the bottom is brown and the color is disgusting. THey had not functioning restaurants or pools...they send us to the brother hotel 300 meters down hill, ridiculous and is like a joke all the situation. Last but not less important...ants, bugs and other insects are your buddies at the room, really a plague of ants. We were a group of people, racing at the circuit and all the rooms had the same problem. Sorry, better a pension!

It does indeed sound from what you describe that some aspects of your stay did not meet our usual standards of service, please accept our sincerest apologies for failing to make your stay with us a perfect moment of relaxation, we sincerely appreciate you taking the time to bring this matter to our attention. We do apologize for the technical problems you encountered, there are absolutely no excuses for details to be overlooked as all rooms should be thoroughly checked on a daily basis. We will make sure that the procedure is being reinforced. Our Resort, consists of two different buildings. One of them is the Barceló Montecastillo Golf (5 *) and the other one is the Barceló Jerez Montecastillo (4 *). These buildings have a distance between them of only about 200 meters. Both in our own website and in the information provided by the collaborating companies, it is clearly stated that the 4 * building shares the facilities and services with the 5 * building. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused during your stay. We sincerely regret reading that you found ants in your room. We have in place a regular pest-control plan and of course work hard on a daily basis to avoid their presence within our grounds, however at certain times of the year, depending on the climatology, the presence of insects is unfortunately unavoidable. Thank you again for your visit and constructive critics, our primary goal being to assure our guests feel comfortable and fully enjoy their visits, we are eager to regain your confidence during another occasion if you gave us that chance.     “Great Value Golf Resort”
