    “Pure relaxation”

    Our second and not not last stay and Castillo beach. A fantastic location, quick and short transfer from the airport. Excellent staff throughout the resort, and great service in the restaurant. Stayed at both the 1000 blocks and 3000, basic rule of thumb appears to be the higher to bungalow number the better it will be with regards its location.

    “Week away ”

    Hotel is in nice area we arrived here Saturday 4th may and paid 2 upgrade.rooms looked nice and everything was going well till the Tuesday when we noticed a few insects in room. A day or so later a was covered in bites from bed. We moved room on Friday when I informed hotel. Showed them bites and never really comment.

     Dear Brendan, We would like to thank you for your preference in selecting our Barceló Castillo hotel for your holidays in Fuerteventura, as well as for taking the time to tell us about your recent experience among us. We sincerely lament your exceptional experience with the insects and we would like to thank you for informing us, since as soon as we were awared of the event we undertook a strict procedure of fumigation your room. We have very strict hygiene standards for our entire establishment and perform periodic pest control treatments, as per the applicable legislation and using professionally certified companies. Unfortunately, just like in a private home, insects can sometimes slip through, regardless of the measures we take. We understand the sensitive nature of this matter and offer our sincerest apologies once again. In spite of this matter, we really hope you enjoyed the rest of the holidays and you had a nice journey back home.     “Tired resort - nothing special.”

    Feeling in need of some sunshine we booked this only weeks before we went. If all you want from a holiday is a beach and a pool then with basic accommodation then great go for it as the accommodation is nothing special. We went for the half board option but feel we should have opted just for bed and breakfast as if you appreciate food you really dont want to eat in the main restaurant here. Not sure how much more you have to pay for the "Royal Option" but might be worth looking at as they have completely different dining experience.

    “Spring Holiday”

    Nothing to complain about - friendly staff, stunning views, excellent food/drink and lovely weather! We didn't go in the swimming pools but they seemed in good condition. It was my boyfriend's birthday while away and on return to the room one day there was a bottle of bubbly. The hotel must have seen his passport and done this of their own accord, as we didn't tell them. Very thoughtful and made a lovely end to the holiday.

    “A bit overpriced and improvements needed”

    SUMMARY 1. Extra/deposit costs for hiring items should be lowered and clearly stated when booking e.g. beach towels, iron. 2. Frequent difficulty with language barrier on occasions, at least two English translators should be available at all times! 3. Don't provide simple/timetable information about the mini train service! 4. Ambience lacking. No cultural music played. When brief instrumental music played in the buffet restaurant, it was low and eventually drowned out as the restaurant got busy. 5. Spa entry fee and prices expensive considering staying as a hotel guest so did not use. Would have used if lower prices! RECEPTION STAFF Lack a little general knowledge about other ON-SITE services/facilities. When asking most staff questions they would answer, "I don't know, it's separate to the reception." E.g. the buffet restaurant, the pool area. ROOM (When turning the TV on, it always defaults to a LOUD Barcelo hotel flash screen! TV stations primarily Spanish, no English subs! Only a few UK channels which were the BBC range and Challenge. Mostly watched Netflix, yes I said NETFLIX, due to cold windy weather!) 1. A ceiling fan should be installed in main room and bedroom, as air-con is unsuitable for allergy sufferers! 2. Poor ventilation in the bathroom when showering, the window is insufficient and when fully opened you are exposed! Would suggest installing an extractor fan. 3. Shower screen not wide enough, so the floor can get wet; would suggest a different style that extends or angles around the shower floor area. 4. Toilet paper holder would be better positioned, higher above the toilet. 5. Daily house cleaning service for two adults (on 7 night stay) personally unnecessary and intrusive; had to use the 'do not disturb' door tag daily! Was disturbed at 8.20am on check out morning as we forgot to use the door tag and lock the door! ATTENTION NEEDED: 1. Seals/grout around the shower area mouldy. 2. Toilet pan is stained so needs deep cleaning! BREAKFAST/DINNER BUFFET SERVICE 1. Only one toasting machine for approximately 100 diners! Need at least two more! 2. Food not hot enough under warmers so cools very quickly; had to microwave meals before sitting down. 3. Clear information stating food cannot be taken outside the restaurant; was rudely told off in Spanish by a head waiter for taking my personal fruit tea and some pastries after breakfast. 4. Table clearing/setting very hectic e.g. taking items away whilst still eating, not setting tables quick enough so next diners confused where to sit/told to sit on another table. 5. All drinks charged for half board are priced more expensive than all inclusive prices!! No free water!! 6. Ice machine seems only available for all inclusive; should be available for ALL at anytime; had to ask each time. (Birthday Cake ordered for dinner time was forgotten! Had to ask a waiter after we finished eating dinner and dessert.) BREAKFAST/DINNER BUFFET FOOD 1. Not all items are labeled! 2. Most fresh items are not covered up and some tiny flies have hovered about and sat down! SWIMMING POOL Pool water is salty and cold! Needs warming; noticed most others not using. DAYTIME ENTERTAINMENT Used the pool area once, on the only hottest day of our trip, a Sunday. 1.Two entertaining staff members appeared suddenly, played loud music and explained something very quickly in Spanish and possibly German, with no translation; it turned out to be a Sangria making session, not keen. 2. Entertaining staff not always available; had to look for someone to get and to return a ball for table tennis.
