    “Very enjoyable stay”

    Very spacious, well maintained rooms. Close to amenities. This hotel is reasonable central located and walking distance from all sights. The WiFi consistency and service could be better. Signal was intermittent and eventually switched off WiFi in favour of Roaming Data.

    “Dodgy A/C and hammering ”

    Hotel is nice, rooms comfortable and location is OK. However, 2 things let it down - every morning hammering starts at 8.30am and the staff pleads ignorance. When we went to the reception to complain, the hotel refused to admit that it is conducting room renovation. It miraculously stopped for half an hour after our complaint but continued throughout the day and started again next morning. The A/C thermostat was constantly breaking down, clicking uncontrollably and randomly choosing when its on. This is bad when its 35c!

    “Slightly dated interior, but comfortable beds and peaceful location”

    The hotel is located slightly further away from the city center, but it is easily reachable by foot! It is also close to a canal (Genil), that you can take a morning walk along: or a nice peaceful detour to hike up to Alhambra without going past the busy touristic city center. There are some grocery stores, restaurants, and cafe very close to the hotel, and their prices are reasonable because they're mostly catered to the locals. With regards to the room, I have to say that the beds are extremely comfortable, with a lot of pillows to choose from: not a very common thing in most hotels. The bathroom is also large and very reasonably sized. The only drawbacks are that we didn't get the king bed that we requested for, even though we arrived before check-in time. The safe is very small and therefore cannot fit slightly larger items like an iPad: an issue that we did not have with other hotels. The room looks a little dated, and there is no kettle in the room to make tea/coffee.

    “Air conditioning did not work”

    Hotel was convenient to restaurants, shopping and Alhambra. Air conditioning did not work and called front desk manager but did not resolve. Jamar Restaurant was great and convenient. We went on tour of La Alhambra which was amazing. Only short taxi ride away from hotel.

    “Great place to stay”

    The Occidental is very well located and is within easy walking distance of restaurants, bars and the Old Town. The staff are extremely helpful and happy to not only supply you with a Tourist map but also advise on where best to enjoy Granada's famous Tapas and Flamenco dancing. We had a room facing the beautiful snow capped mountains and below us was a tree lined piazza . The Occidental is a modern hotel offering free WiFi and Room service. It has a cafeteria / snack bar which provides a buffet breakfast at an additional charge. The hotel is close to the new Metro and is a ten minute walk to the historical centre. There is a Mercadona supermarket a five minute walk away should one need to stock up on local produce and wines.Thank you to all the staff who helped make our three day stay a memorable experience.
