Whale and Dolphin Watching
The southwest coast of Tenerife is the perfect place to see whales and dolphins in the wild as many of them call the waters off the island home all year round.
The marine mammals have been spotted very close to the shore, which has made Tenerife into the top European destination for watching marine mammals in their natural habitat. You can find up to 21 different species in these waters, ranging from the giant blue whale to the fearsome killer whale. There are two resident populations, tropical whales and bottle-nosed dolphins, which can be spotted almost 80% of the time, with an actual sighting percentage close to 100%. Don't let this opportunity pass you by! Very few places on the planet offer you such a wide range of creatures of the sea so close to the hotel. Half a million visitors every year come to see these whales and dolphins and this number proves you will have plenty of opportunities to see these creatures of the sea in the wild.
The Barranco de Masca offers a bright, magnificent landscape where exclusive, indigenous flora of incredible beauty flourishes. You'll also have time to taste typical Canary Island culinary specialties such as fresh goat's cheese, cactus juice, local wines recommended by our guides, jams and homemade sauces. The descent lasts between 3 and 4 hours. When you get to the beach, enjoy a well-earned swim and relax in the sunshine while you wait for the boat to take you back to Los Gigantes.
Tenerife is a true paradise where you can enjoy a vacation "under the sea" thanks to its incredible marine life, a pleasant climate all year round with temperatures that range between 66 and 77 degrees and a sea that's almost always calm. Shipwrecks, caves and lava tubes are more reasons to enjoy this sport in Tenerife. The island boasts a complete network of centres at the disposal of experienced divers or beginners.
The hiking routes in Tenerife offer a vast variety of environments, climates, landscapes and levels of difficulty. These trails offer visitors the chance to get to know the island better, to discover the depth of its beauty and to learn about the way of life of its first inhabitants, the Guanches. They were the ones who created the first routes through the thick laurel forests towards the grazing areas near Mount Teide.
Test your sport fishing skills on the rocky Tenerife coastline. You can chose from a wide variety of fish that are difficult to catch, such as bream, catfish, grouper, etc. You can practice big-game fishing, bottom fishing, deep sea fishing and fishing with an electric reel.
