The Caribbean and Pacific

The Caribbean Sea is a great diving destination and Aruba is a beginners’ dream. This island has warm seas with gentle waves, making it easier to breathe from a tank and swim underwater. Continuing towards Mexico, the Mesoamerican coral reef extends from the south of Yucatán to Honduras. Divers can explore this vast system thanks to the Barceló hotels for diving, which are situated along the Riviera Maya, Cancún and the island of Cozumel. Schools of shimmering fish and colorful coral reefs dotted with purple and orange sponges are just a sight of the eye. Sea turtles are abundant thanks to conservation efforts, and it is also possible to see manatees, sometimes known as sea cows. The reef is home to the largest population in the world of these slow, rotated and charming mammal mammals.

Thanks to its diversity, Palancar Reef in Cozumel attracts expert divers from all over the world. Coral beds give way to deep crevices harboring enormous reef fish. On the Pacific coast, Banderas Bay is a first class diving destination, and Barceló hotels in Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta are ideal starting points. Divers can go on two-tank expeditions in the sea. Meanwhile, beginners head to Los Arcos, where the ocean has carved granite into arches and caves that shelter octopuses and eels.

Three Seas

Las The Spanish Canary Islandson the coast of Morocco, entice divers eager to explore fantastic seascapes formed when volcanoes erupted and lava hit the sea. Located in Atlantic Ocean, these warm islands are warmed by sea currents that maintain a mild climate. On the island of Fuerteventura, the Barceló Fuerteventura Thalasso Spa hotel has partnered with the Deep Blue Diving School to offer dives for beginners and experts. You can see banks of zebra fish and barracuda. Some divers bring sardines to feed the almost two-meter-long manta rays that, sometimes, are close enough to touch them.

For an incredible experience, guests can try a night dive. Flashlight lights reveal amazing sea creatures that come out to hunt in the darkness. Exploring a shipwreck is the dream of any diver, and Mediterranean Sea is full of sunken ships. Novices will dive alongside shipwrecks in the caves of Palma Bay, while experts can go into some of them. To discover one of the best wrecks in the world, divers come to the Red Sea. The Barceló Tiran Sharm hotel is located in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. Nearby is the Thistlegorm, a British ship sunk by German bombs in 1941. As it is at a shallow depth, it is accessible to divers of all levels.
