“Just had a weeks stay at allegro”

Rooms where rubbish living out of my case all week no space . The food was also no good no choice. The hotel was in a good place right near lido that’s about all. It should be no more than a two star hotel .never again not there. Madeira it’s self is nice. All the good reviews have got to be wrong.

    “Great for a chill out.”

Booked it last minute and got a great deal through Jet2,first trip to Madeira, so not sure what to expect, well, we loved it, no English or Irish bars, no kids,no chavs, no lucky lucky men, just a laid back atmosphere in a beautiful place. The Allegro Madeira is a clean modern tower block style hotel, the room was clean and comfortable if a bit small, my only gripe is that there was no drawers to put clothes in, so you end up living out of your suitcase, there is a rail to hang clothes on, on the plus side the bed is very comfortable, it was cleaned every day except the Sunday, pool towels are included, as is a kettle, safe and fridge, again all included where usually you have to pay extra. The pool area is clean and modern and being adults only very quiet, some days we had it to ourselves, (it was October so end of season)We stayed B+B and the food was very good, plenty of variety and good quality, its the first place I`ve stayed where you can have Champagne? with your breakfast included in the price. All in all I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

“A place to stay for those who have low expectations”

I booked this hotel based on the description and reviews. I also assumed that the price reflected the quality. All I can assume is these rave reviews were purchased by the hotel or people have very low expectations. This hotel looks like it was modeled after a jail from the inside and looks like an abandoned apartment high rise from the outside. We booked a “suite” with a “side sea view”. What we walked into was a tiny room with two twin beds pushed against each other and a futon. I am not exaggerating. The “sea view” was a sliver of blue beyond our view of an asphalt roof, air conditioning units and other people’s balconies. All of the balconies face other people’s balconies. Zero privacy if you open your curtains. To top off our miserable, depressing room, the fire alarm went off twice during our stay. Once while getting ready for dinner forcing us to leave the room half dressed and the other at 2:00 a.m. Thankfully after the first false alarm we knew better than to jump out of bed to leave our room. The ONLY good thing about this hotel was it appeared to be clean. I can’t comment on the food as we didn’t want to spend a solitary moment hanging out at this horrible place but I can tell you that I saw the pool and and it was the most miserable looking area I’ve ever seen. It’s a slab of concrete with a bunch of chairs strewn around. No plants, tables, flowers, umbrellas. NOTHING. I honestly can’t believe I spent $200 on a room here. I was thankful I only booked one night.

    “Hilly Holiday (but that's Madeira!)”

This was a sunshine break which we thoroughly enjoyed. The hotel is well situated, although on a steep road, but close to all amenities with bus services & numerous restaurants. We had a hiccup in that the power points failed in our room on the weekend before we left & they weren't able to fix it prior to our departure, nevertheless we did have a kettle boiled for us so that we could make a drink. Overall, the hotel is clean, minimalistic in design (no wardrobe doors), has good food, friendly staff & twin pools with more than ample sunbeds. We would certainly choose to stay there again, & happily recommend it.
