“Great Landscape, Poor hygiene, one manager made the difference for my trip”

I gave a rating of 4 to be objective as the landscape and the concept of the place was good. The manager I met that assisted me in solving my problem, cant remember his name he was in the manager area in 2000- 3000 area, slim, tall and of a dark complexion, gentleman, he was there a few days between July 11 - 19 ( only describe because I want to thank him for making a difference to my experience as he was the only one who listened and actually did something about it and the only reason why I did not score a one or two for overall experience) I attended a conference here in mid July, it was all inclusive. I was pleased we were picked up from the airport and I found the desk quite easily. That was a good start, our group had there own checked in desk due to the large number, that makes check in easier and I was glad because the lines were long. I asked for a non smoking room, I was given my room but was transferred with on explanation at the last minute, my room was not clean. At registration we were told that only one gadget on the internet, we were at a business conference, this was unacceptable we have laptop and mobile phones. and the internet is not very strong for some areas. Big no no for conferences. Manager area ( between the 2000 and 3000 area, smoking allowed, this makes it difficult for individuals who are allergic when waiting to speak to a manager or making a trip booking. Not good for children. Ground: Beautiful landscape, there is coral in the water and thumbs up to the staff who clear the beach so early and regularly. It is just a mossy area. Great scenery for photography and a romantic setting. Well design ground. Plus Train to take around the venue and carts. Did not like to leave luggage out so early in open area. Tours: I enjoyed that we had options for tours and the company came and picked us up in their various buses. I went to La Hacienda, there was an island sea tour and an historic town tour of Santa Domingo these were our group choice but there were other places. The town area of Punta Cana is not far away but difficult to get to , hotel could arrange buses that goes into town at set time and location. The shops on site had great items, no cash used unless you are in the adult section with easy access to check in, you will need to got to the long lines at the check in desk to pay before buying your items. Poolside was well maintained, wish coconut water was out later as they were n o where to be seen after our conference was finish, we had no coconut water access. Entertainment: Plus there is entertainment for children in the night. In Palace area could have a better variety of entertainment for adults Spa and Gym: This was included in our package, opening hours was good as I struggled with this at other hotels. Good jogging path along beach area. Exercise and classes prerecorded such as biking class etc. On check in you were given some points to use that is not clear it is based on a percentage at the spa.Price wise compared to other hotels I have been was a little over priced in my opinion Restaurants opened different times, but the better choices had to be signed up for plus pre-booked from the morning. There vegan choices were severely limited, some had a mild salad , or a vegan desert but difficult to find a complete vegan meal. My best choice was stick to buffet restaurants. There were two buffet options Miramar and Sante Fe Steak house. Santa Fe Steak House have less options according to my vegan dietary needs. I got dirty grapes on my salad and that was a turn off. Very dirty grapes never washed, I called a representative who just ask me to wipe them off, I wiped one showed her that no attempt was made to clean them. Miramar was my favorite eating spot. The smoothie could be a little bit more advance and better options but overall good. It took a while to find non dairy milk which was available but not properly labelled. Room: My room was good size, lots mirrors and very decent at first glance I thought this could be good. Jaccuzi on balcony was a plus. As I walked in a realized the mirrors were not cleaned, eye level and below in reach had finger prints and smudges all over. The bathroom had soap scum and built up dirt all over, no this was not due to hard water but due to lack of cleaning over a period of time. There was splashes of dirt and some liquid of some sort on the walls in bathroom and mirror which I used a rag and simple rub and it disappeared. The towels on some days were thrown down in the bathroom and not properly arranged. The drawers were dusty and the coach and setting area has not been cleaned and showed clear signs of grease mixed with dust patches on the covers. I reported that my room was not clean several times and that I needed the bathroom clean after a day of travelling so that i can go to bed in a hot muggy climate clean and no one came to clean the room.I had to physically leave the room and went to the middle managers desk before I got a response. I took pictures with me. The cleaning staff came then she spoke 99% Spanish and called someone else. I do not speak Spanish but can understand limited conversations. They did basic cleaning so I could inhabit the night promising a detailed clean the next day. This was after asking for the products to clean myself and was first I traveled without my own cleaning products. The bathroom also was unclean had water rim marks showing it has not been scrubbed though flushed. Needless to say the next day I came expecting a room cleaned and was disappointed. I had to attend the manager area again where I met this manager I mentioned and he told me that he will ensure it is clean. The next day I returned it was significantly improved and smelled clean. Mirrors were still not cleaned, for the cleaning staff mirrors are apart of a room and the part that shows dirt easily especially your finger prints they do need cleaning. The Jacuzzi was not included as apart of the daily clean even though I cleaned after using had to call to get this restocked. Room temperature cannot be changed to my preference either two cold or hot. Once all my glitches were sorted I had an amazing time. I left a detail review not because this sight was bad but because it has great potential, most staff are friendly but overall hygiene a big issue and it would be great if management takes time to read these reviews and make the necessary changes. Also spray rooms for mosquitoes.

    “very good for family, kids”

very good infrastructure. Could have better food in the reserved restaurantes, and also better drinks. But in general it was one of the best resorts that I have been. Only missing free room service, but in general very good.

    “Great time!”

Starting off I have to say that I didn't realize Spanish was the 1st language in Punta Cana. So if you don't know any spanish this is the time to get proficient. Although my spanish was limited there were ppl there that spoke english well and some not so well. At times it got a little frustrating to me, none the less we kept it pushing. We stayed there from Aug 09-13th 4 adults. Upon arrival the place is gorgeous! The grounds are very well kept and there is ppl working to maintain the property daily. We arrived about 430pm and by reading other reviews was told to make dinner reservations after check in. We did that but was told 6:00pm-6:15pm only time avail. REALLY we just got there, The 1st day seemed as though we were running around making dinner reservations, tour reservation. 1st day was a bust. I felt when I checked in at the front desk dinner res should of been taken care of. Tips: Make dinner res for 7:30p-9:00, If you need to book a tour book La Hacienda tours there's a $99.00 excursion which is amazing and if the glass room by front desk is full to book tour then go to expedia desk just ask where it is. We never had a problem getting beach chairs on the beach but by the pool it was a no go unless you went and placed towels on chairs early. It also would have been nice if someone was on the beach taking drink orders. The rooms were cool the only thing I didn't like was there was no alcohol in room except two small cans of beer. Otherwise you have to truck it to the bar which from our room was a walk. Our room had a pee smell by the closet area. Now I don't know if it was because it was right by the bathroom however due to the language barrier was unable to communicate it to the maid. We kept it moving. I would recommend getting on the tram that takes you around the resort the 1st day so you can see how big it is. Food: Buffet when you get there go upstairs if its open it has the same food as downstairs just less flies. If you eat down stairs don't stop by the 1st area go towards the back same food less flies. It's impossible to get rid of the flies due to the amount of food but if you can adleast go to a area where not so many flies it's better. The Steak house was great the service was terrific. At all the dinner restaurants there is a pre plan menu where you choose a appetizer, entree and dessert. Pool closes at 8pm and the show at 10:00p was pretty weak. Oh the other part wifi now we all know that coming from the US most of us live for wifi. Why is the wifi not included in this 5 star resort? You can purchase for the a fee but I feel it's a nickel and dime ploy. Overall we had a very nice stay. It's really what you make of it and we did enjoy ourselves a lot. Last tip take money for tipping small bills. Hope this review helps.
