    “Perfect Location”

We stayed for 2 nights at the Barcelo Pyramids, arriving about 22.30pm on a Saturday night. There was quite a delay to check in ( 40 mins) and only one person in front of us trying to pay a restaurant bill but due to the wait we were upgraded to a better room ( without us asking/ complaining I must add!!). The room faced the back of the building on third floor so yes the view was not great but you did not hear the main road which was very busy at most hours, I loved the hustle and bustle of the road outside, the constant beeps from cars but I'm sure some people would not. The room was clean, comfortable and had good air conditioning. Breakfast was great with a good selection and fully stocked. The pool on 8th floor was decent area , service at the pool bar was very slow 3 staff on and 20 mins to get 2 soft drinks. Top floor restaurant was lovely inside with a great view of the pyramids but again very slow service (only two tables in) and when food did come starters and mains served at same time, dessert had to be ordered with everything else and came about 10 mins after the starters and mains delivered to your table so at one point all meals were on the table at same time. Now this is a lovely hotel, great service even if slow however, peaceful it is not!! I do not mean the sound of traffic but on both nights we were there they had wedding parties on, lovely to see the dresses and hear the traditional music (not the nightclub music though!!) but.... when the music is still going on at 04.30 am and you have had to try sleeping through it as you are being collected for a transfer to Luxor at 04.30am its not great at all. Saturday nights party/ music quietened down not long after midnight but Sunday at 04.30am the party was still going strong. The room windows were shaking and the bathroom squeeked. Hotel felt very safe and staff were very friendly.

    “Guest Relations and Service.”

I found myself in Cairo with 6 American tourists staying here for several days. Myself I own an English award winning agency for travel throughout Egypt and it would.be fair to say my expectations and needs and my attention to detail probably makes me a pretty fussy client... well I know it does 😊 I choose Barcelo due to the location and rooms online. I arrived several hours before my clients flights were due into Cairo and met the fabulous guest relations manager there called Rania. What an amazing lady who was able to show me all the rooms, checked for bottles of water and little details, tea and coffee and lovely rooms. I stayed in touch with Rania during our entire stay, she continued to check on the service we were receiving throughout the hotel, where we had comments or suggestions she addressed them each in a unique and professional manner. I am happy to say our trip was a huge success due to her assistance, so much so I will be booking again in November and December for future guests of ours. I would also like to mention front of house and reception were also charming to deal with and the food in the Italian main restaurant downstairs is superb.

    “5 days in "Cairo”

Just returned from a vacation with SunRay tours in Egypt. We stayed at this hotel before and after our Nile cruise to Luxor and Aswan.... the hotel is actually located on a Main Street in Giza, not Cairo, hence travel into Cairo on any day but Friday and Saturday is not for the faint hearted. There are 25 million people in Cairo and traffic is crazy, just insane, no rules, lots of honking and major delays. The staff at the hotel were amazing. We had a lovely personal tour from Mohammed with the taxi service. I was well treated by the duty manager who looked after me when I thought I had lost required documentation, the front desk did their utmost to make sure everything was the way we wished. The bell men watched our bags for hours on our last day and there are guards at the door. I never felt unsafe. Having said that I agree with easy to please... the hotel is situated close to the pyramids, you can see them from the 12th floor. The pool area was clean, the pool at least 88 degrees, free towels provided, chairs for lounging with cushions, seats and tables and 4 beautiful cabanas where I slept on arrival and our group hung out until departure. The breakfast Buffett was good. Their pastries are delicious, there is an omelette fresh egg station, an Egyptian area with falafel and fuul, cheese, yogurt ,bread cereal, fruit, coffee, juicee etc.,you will not be hungry... the food is different but you're in a different country... expect that. The rooms were clean, the beds firm, the linens comfortable. There were fridges in each room, they didn't work too well unfortunately, but kept water cool. They gave you a free bottle of water each day. There was good water pressure. Outside to the right were small markets with nuts and chips and water, pop. Pay 5 LE for 1.5 litres of water and 10 for pop, 12 for the large pop... 13 LE =1 canadian dollar. To the left was a place about 1 minute away with good cheap eat in or take out. We had a vegetarian pizza for 42 LE and an amazing chicken dinner for 180, a whole BBQ chicken with rice, French fries and garlic sauce with pickles. The road outside is busy, we had a corner room and were not bothered by the noise. The area is typical of Giza, looks worse for wear, but the people were friendly and we had no issues with this hotel. We did not eat here other than breakfast which was provided. I did not use any of the hotel services.

    “Lovely hotel and staff”

We just got back from Giza/Cairo and spent 3 days prior to going to Luxor and 3 days after Aswan at Barcello...I am still trying to understand what other posters have written.I cannot say any thing negative about this hotel nor its staff...the hotel is clean and the rooms that we were in and our group thought they were excellent and clean. The front desk staff was super..always smiling and helpful...no one expected a tip..I am still trying to figure out what the other posters wrote.. The breakfast buffet was excellent... The actual location in Giza in my opinion is great. It is in the midst of liveliness....no one needs to be afraid...its a bit shocking at first but the people on the street are all friendly. The place is lively...turn left when you leave the hotel and just about 1 minute walk there is an outdoor grill with patio and music and people ..lovely..best of all..cheap..$10 US dollar or 190 Egyptian pounds can feed 3 people. Then right next door is aMac and Burger King ..and at the outdoor place there is the mall.. The police station is just before the outdoor /patio eating..and behind the police station there is ajuice bar...takeout fresh mango juice or sugar cane or whatever...just point and its 5 Egyptian pounds..lal thats what 33 USA cents... Just say hello to the people and they will say hello back... Just say..salaaam ..and when you leaving at anytime just say..masalaama... the hotel is lovely and staff is great...no issues from me...the pool area was a nice place to chill... I think foreigners create their own problems by thinking they are above the locals when they travel...and they expect subserviency...me..I just talk to everyone..I get to their level ..everyone on the street hailed out to me after a while...WHY????Because I took the time to say salaaam and masalaama..
