    “good hotel with spanish influences”

    spacy room, clean, very good bed, silent from streetnoise, great location near lake, shops, central station, within 5 minutes walk. very good breakfast but bit pricy. bar/restaurant with tapas and a la cart and nice wines. personal very helpfull.

    “Barcelo Beauty”

    The Barcelo was a gem. Every detail was class. Rooms very light and clean and beautiful. Bed was so comfortable and the shower was fabulous. A wonderful get away. The area was in walking distance to the Main train station and lovey cafes and shopping nearby. Staff was helpful.

    “Excellent, classy hotel”

    Well located, a few minutes walk from main station, Alster lakefront, metro and bus stops, restaurants and bars. Friendly, professional staff. Excellent rooms (we had a family suite, 2 giant (super king) beds plus a large single. Excellent showers, linen and reasonably-priced mini bar. Luggage storage no problem.

    everything was very good. Quiety location, nice staff, perfect service. Close to center, mainstation, shopping, restaurants. easy to go to find what you need. You can walk to the center, it will take 10 minuttes.👍

    “It used to be better... sadly good times are over!”

    This has been my third time at Barcelo in Hamburg. It's been a tradition we've developed that we visit this hotel after our Wacken tour, the staff has so far been the kindest and offered us early-check in(like 12-1pm). Amazing king size bed, quiet even though it is pretty central. I don't know where to start this time: We arrived around 12pm and I told the reception that we are coming from Wacken(the biggest metal festival of the world) and we would like to check in if possible and I also said I would be willing to pay an upgrade if there's any room available on a higher category. She looked me down and said just 'NO' we have no room - zero frendliness or kindness; such as ' Oh I am sorry, there's nothing available at the moment, would you like to wait?' or anything in that direction. Actually I had even left a note in my reservation that I would be very happy about an early check in. Anyways, we started waiting at the lobby, at 1 pm I went to the reception desk and talked to the other receptionist hoping she is nicer. It turned out to be even worse: she yelled at me and said we don't guarantee no room before 3 pm, which in fact is true but I am your GUEST and there are nicer ways to tell it or at least to show some good will that you try! I went back to my seat and after 30 minutes I went to ask again and then she said 'yeah there' s a room available' even though I wast sitting just in front of her she didn't tell us that the room was ready. Me and my friends were so tired and just needed a rest. I was never treated like this in any hotel in my life. So we went to the room - even though the booking was for a king-size bed-it was two separate beds, but at that point I was just too tired to complain. After a shower I was walking to my bed and a staff just walks in and says 'mini bar': Hello ever heard of privacy?? The AC cannot be turned off and the room was cold over all even though I increased the temperature. And the next day same thing again, someone just calls room service and jumps into the room. I was expecting breakfast to be more colorful but sorry I was unable to catch any highlights. Though they tried: Tortilla de patatas(salty as your sins) and pancakes which were as heavy as a cake and not fluffy. Then the final check out: The same receptionist again and the parking ticket was thrown into our face and the receipt was just put in my hand without any question if I needed an envelope in a 4 star hotel. It's been a very very misarable stay and we will definately not be coming back. I am sure there're better hotels out in Hamburg for the same price. Quality-Price ratio won't match anymore. Sorry Barcelo Team, but please work on satisfaction of your guest and train your personnel for hospitality. You definately have lost great deal of your quality compared to last and previous years.
