“Barcelo Puerto Vallarta week of Sept 8th, 2019”

The Barcelo Puerto Vallarta is an older, smaller all inclusive property that we have now visited twice. Our overall experience was very positive, great value for money and we will return in the future.

    “Pick another resort!”

This was probably my least favorite resort Ive ever been to. The food was terrible, the alcohol was crappy, there was crappy entertainment. Only 1 specialty restaurant was open. Only 1 bar in a terrible location on the property (excluding the swim up bar). Very few poolside waitresses.

“Sept 2019 trip to Barcelo Puerto Vallarta”

Just came back from this resort and it was a beautiful place. The resort had beautiful landscaping, big pools, and huge rooms for a hotel. The staff are friendly and food is good too. The resort sits at the edge of a mountain and the ocean, very green and nice if you're into nature. The beach was not all that great because there are a lot of little boats there and people fishing in it too. But they are locals and very friendly, just trying to sell you things so they can survive. Be careful with the people selling tours to other magical and beautiful places, because the Barcelo is probably the best resort in this area. Also when you get off the plane at PVR airport, you go thru a "shark tank", about 30 people are trying to convince you they are there to help you, the only thing they are trying to do is sell you a "tour-excursion", they are not related to car rental or anything else. Say no thank you and keep moving until you're out of the "shark tank"!

    “Outstanding!”

Our only regret was that we were there for just 2 days. We have already booked a full week for next year. Service, accommodations, and the restaurants were great. For an all-inclusive resort this was exceptional at this price point. This resort is located on a beautiful secluded small beach and one of our all time favorite. Even though this is an all-inclusive resort, take the short walk across the river and have lunch with one of the beach restaurants. People watch with your feet in the sand, enjoy the clear water and keep an eye out for the Blue-footed Booby, it's a bird. We have been to other Barcelo resorts and this one is one of their best. There were always chairs available at the pools. No time-share selling. Top shelf cocktails. Absolutely no negative comments. We are anxiously waiting to return.

    “Wonderful Service ”

My husband and I just returned from a 7 night/8 day stay at Barcelo. Check-in was a breeze and we were given champagne as soon as we stepped out of our Uber. Mario (I think) unloaded our bags from the car and took them to our room. He was very helpful showing us around the resort as we walked to our room. Anytime we left the resort to go into town he made sure the security upfront knew an Uber was coming for us. Rooms-huge rooms with living room/additional sleeping area was nice, we never used it, but the option was there. Bedding was like clouds. Rooms were cleaned daily, but you may have to ask for your fridge to be refilled some days. Fridge comes with 2 Coronas, 2 corona lights, 2 waters, juice, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi, and peanuts. Service-most days at the buffet we were served drinks quickly and they kept them refilled. The pool bar needs a few more bartenders on the weekends, we waited up to 10 mins trying to get a drink on Saturday. The waitress around the pool bar worked hard to get to accommodate everyone, but the pool is huge. We tried out the other pool near the Los Arcos restaurant and found the BEST cocktail waitress ever. Libni kept the drinks coming before we ever finished our last one. She always had an infectious smile and greeted us throughout the entire resort. She and our waiter from the specialty restaurants, Hermilo, made this trip so special to us! Hermilo also went above and beyond for anything we needed. He moves around to different restaurants throughout the week, but he sure to ask for him. I cannot say enough good things about Libni & Hermilo. Food-we heard so many bad things that we didn’t go on with super high expectations, but wow, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Buffet-as with any all inclusive, do not get the eggs, get the fresh made omelette at breakfast. We never went for lunch. The dinner buffet changes nightly and was delicious. Los Arcos lunch-TACOS!! We had the tacos everyday. These tacos are heaven. We went into town and tried others, but they couldn’t even compare. I wish I could remember the name of the waiter in there, but he was awesome too and brought us drinks and any food we ordered off the menu (get the pizza & shrimp burrito.) The tacos are self serve and start at 11:30 so sometimes we would skip breakfast and would wait for them to open. They were THAT good! On the last day, we checked out of our room and had to go back one last time for those tacos. A la carte-we had Italian twice, Los Arcos, and Kyoto. At the Italian restaurant we had lasagna, shrimp fettuccine Alfredo, (not on the menu, but Hermilo made it happen) & cannoli for dessert. All 3 were perfect! Los Arcos-we had salmon and steak & shrimp. The first steak was a little overcooked, but we told them “mas rojo” and the next one was like butta! Salmon was amazing! Kyoto we thought would be like a hibachi style like at most AI, but it’s more sushi/sushi rolls & rice. My husband had the nikishi and wish he had got two of those. I had the California roll and it was great! Entertainment-here’s the major downfall. The entertainment is horribly lacking here. They have about 3 people in the entertainment staff. Ricardo kept everyone laughing in his blonde wig singing Britney Spears. He tried very hard to get everyone involved and playing games. Not just with the adults, but i saw him playing card games and guess who with one little girl. You’ll never find that anywhere else so 5 stars for him. They need more activities like the foam parties many AI resorts have. There should also be a separation from the kids like an all adult pool. The shows, I’m not even sure where to start. They are needing major improvement, but it’s the only thing to do at night besides the cantina blaring music. The circus show was probably my favorite. If you do walk down the beach to the shops/restaurants, please go see Roger. He will take care of you. The bathrooms public down there (for all shops) and cost $1 for 3 uses OR go in the ocean lol! Now the BEST part...Massages by Laura. She opens around 10-ish daily and charges $40 for TWO people to get an hour massage. It’s on the second floor so the views were beautiful and the sound of the waves were so relaxing. Excursions-we went down the beach and were approached by a guy about a boat ride. He said they would take us to see a statue of an iguana where they shot the movie ‘Night of the Iguana’ & Los Arcos for 600 pesos or $40 American. It is a better deal to use pesos everywhere. We learned that lesson the hard way in town. Anyways, we jumped on the boat (in clothes/not swimsuits) and took the ride. Many people were snorkeling, but since we were dressed our guide jumped right the water and brought us a starfish and a blowfish. We couldn’t believe it!
