    “Great Resort”

Well, this was my second time at this resort and there were definetly highs and lows. I was impressed by Barcelo's environmental efforts to eliminate straws in drinks and provide dispensers in the shower as opposed to little containers of shampoo and conditioner. Rooms were clean, mini-bar restocked, overall service excellent. Premium lounge was a pleasure - depleted items were quickly restocked. Unfortunately, I had an issue that I wanted to discuss with Rodolfo but ended up sending him an email as he was on vacation. He responded quickly and referred me to Laura Ramos who listened to my issue and assured me it was resolved. Unfortunately flea bites were again a problem despite the fact we thoroughly sprayed ourselves. Premium benefits included pool towels in the room which we didn't get. Not a big deal, we signed out towels each day. The morning buffet staff were an absoulte pleasure - Norma the hostess, Patricia Gonzalas, Oscar Martinetz and Joe Perez treated us like VIPs.

“Happy and Helpful Staff (Ricky was a delight!)”

Concierge + Front Desk + Restaurant Staff + Bartenders + Towel girl were all very helpful and happy. Ricky (one of the day-time poolside events coordinator) was exceptionally so ... he made us feel right "at home". His joyful personality and interest in our travels was a delight! The proximity of the hotel/resort to Rio Mismaloyla and Boca Tomatlan was lovely. The clean water from these little rivers added that "wonder of nature" that reminds us that a community that respects itself will welcome those who respect them.

    “Family vacation”

This hotel is very isolated south of PV about 45 minutes. We like to walk so we’re a little disappointed as the beach and walking area is about 1/2 mile. Hotel is very safe. 15, 13 and 7 year old loved the pool and beach. Lots of activities during the day. Kayaking, snorkeling and ceramic painting($). Take a boat to Arcos 10 minutes away for $20/person and go snorkeling. Right from the beach. Massages also cheap on the beach. Not a party resort, but great for families.

“Great service, great location, beautiful weather!!!”

We traveled with our grandfather and his girlfriend to Barcelo in Mismaloya. We are 39 and they are in their late eighties. We took a private cab from the airport since our plane was delayed and all was covered by Air transat. Cecilia at the front desk was able to accommodate us to have rooms close together and close to an elevator so that we didn't have to go far with the wheelchair - the entire resort is wheelchair accessible except the beach. Cain brought us to our room and showed us how to work everything which was great. Rooms were spacious and clean. Most rooms face pool which has a beautiful view to the bay and pool. Ask for a room in Tower 2 if you want a quieter experience. I would suggest try to be in Tower 1 if you like to party or need to be close to the buffet. Cantina bar is directly below tower 1 which is where we were, and it is loud at night but we loved watching all of the drunk tourists having fun. The food at the buffet was ok. The snack bar has great salsa, guac and chips. The pizza guy is fabulous also at the snack bar. They make it in a woodburning oven. The snack bar at night turns into Los Arcos restaurant which is good. Italian was good too. Fellas, bring long pants if you want to get into the restaurants at night since we couldn’t get into the Japanese or Spanish restaurant. West jet gives 5 al la cartes with the vacation where as air transat gives only 3 but air transat was cheaper overall. We booked our tours through Cecilia at Air transat which who is very knowledgeable and fabulous to deal with. I would recommend the deep sea fishing with Fishing Are Us. They are amazing and we saw tons of whales and caught our limit of huge Jack fish and bonitos. Bring bug spray and after-bite since the jejenes bites are no fun. Not everyone in our group got bites, but I always get bit by something when we go away. I was covered from walking on the beach. Air transat allowed us to book the "City Tour" for free since we booked a fishing boat tour with "Fishing are Us". Resort was the perfect size for those that are elderly or in a wheelchair accessible except the beach and all of the servers and bartenders helped any of those with accessibility issues. The beach was very quaint and was a great mix of locals and tourists. The resort is very safe and the security guards always watch out to make sure unwelcome guests do not arrive. This resort is in a little village and it is safe to walk around the village. The local kids are adorable and the local people welcome your business. I have to say to everyone.....Please tip these hardworking people!!! The service is outstanding. The fellas (Gerardo, Juventino, Jesus) at the pool bar always made us special drinks to try. Try the "pool party" drinks or the lime, mango, strawberry margaritas are great too! Caesar Lopez made us special desserts and ran to get us special coffees and shots at dinner which made the buffet experience so great! Brad and Alfredo are the best servers during the day and they run their butts off for you!! Ricki and the other fella in the animation team are very interactive with everyone old and young. We had such a great time watching our grandparents be engaged in playing bingo or singing and dancing with Ricki poolside. These guys are hilarious and make everyone have a great time. Thank you to all of the staff for making this vacation wonderful. Special thanks to Gerardo, Jesus, Juventino, Ricki and Alfredo for your special attention! You are true professionals!!
