    “Caribe Restaurant ”

We just had an amazing meal as a family at the Caribe Restaurant. Roberto Vazquez Brady Barrios were our waitstaff. They were the most hospital, prompt and kind waiters we have experienced anywhere. The lobster was amazing, the ambiance was spot on and these two men only made the experience that much more memorable. These two deserve to be recognized for their fine service and representation of the Barcelona Brand.

    “Wonderful hotel!”

The hotel itself was super clean and the staff could not have been nicer. My 6 year old was obsessed with the Barcy Club. The staff did all sorts of activities and even took them on a "field trip" to go ice skating, on the carousel, and have ice cream at the bowling ally at the mall in the compound. The pool is huge and amazingly pretty! There are huts with sun beds in the water that get plenty of shade in the pool, which are unique to the palace. The swim up bar is fun, and every day there was water aerobics and zumba led by ridiculously talented hotel staff. It was fun even just to watch! There is a pretty big spray park for the kids there too. Lots of slides and waterfalls in very shallow water. Our favorite restaurant was the French. The teppanyaki show at Kyoto was the best one we have seen at a teppanyaki restaurant. You have to make reservations for all of the a la carte restaurants as soon as you check in at the Premium Lounge. I cannot recommend the snorkeling excursion that we did enough...Aventuras Mayas is the company, and Adan was our guide. We did the "Mayan Adventure Tour" and were taken to a cenote with a diving platform and zip line, a cave, and a fresh water inlet in a private park. It was the most beautiful water! Clear and cool and amazing. Lunch was included, which was a bonus. It was a nice group of only 12 people. We booked it through the hotel and were able to get a better rate for the kids than the advertised rate.

    “What a great vacation!!”

We have stayed here many times over the past 10 years. The resort is beautiful and the people are happy and helpful! Tanya Salas was SO helpful in getting our vacation plans settled, and helped us while we were there also! She was very helpful and accommodating. The resort is beautiful and clean. The pools and beach were pristine. The buffets are wonderful and the wait staff make an effort to get to know your preferences so they can best help you. The specialty restaurants are all amazing, with great service. We especially like the Brasserie, Rodizio and Kyoto restaurants. We can never wait to return!!

“Premium Perks Vs. Palace without premium”

We have stayed at the resort before, but this was our first time for Palace. We decided to upgrade to premium bracelets (not a premium room) for $30/person/day. With that, we got several benefits, resort-wide WiFi, premium alcohol, premium lounge, a la carte restaurants each night, hydrotherapy access for an hour each day, free room service, etc. We enjoyed upgrading to premium. Employees noticed our premium bands and we got special treatment a few times that we're one hundred percent sure of (golf cart rides between resorts while we waited for the double decker bus a couple times when available). If you're on the brink of deciding between going premium or not, I'd say it depends on the person. We enjoyed the wifi to listen to music and post to social media around the resort--but it's not a necessity to us since we have cell service in Mexico. We also enjoyed the a la carte restaurants every night instead of a few special nights, but their buffets are great, too! We made the trip down to the spa for the hydrotherapy once during our stay. It was neat. You have access to the hydrotherapy hot/cold tubs, steam room, sauna, private spa pool with special massage jets, and aromatherapy showers for one hour each day with premium. I enjoyed the hot tub part of it the most. We did not use room service but saw a lot of people who did. We used the lounge as a private bathroom when we were in that building and to get snacks and drinks on occasion. It was nice to have a private concierge to book all our a la carte stuff in the premium lounge as well. I am writing a separate review for Palace to delve into the resort specifics. But, I used this opportunity to explain the upgrades of Premium at the Palace because I couldn't find a lot of stuff about it before my trip. I'm glad we went all in once to try it out. We felt very spoiled. But, next time I'll probably stay at colonial or tropical level and maybe upgrade to premium there. I just feel those buildings are prettier and better laid out than Palace. Just my two cents. Please mark this review as helpful if it helped you!
