“Very nice food , confortable hotel”

Quiet location no much things to do around if you don’t have a car, but few restaurants and bars. Very good service, excellent food, large room, good for family you feel safe, beautiful promenade, take all inclusive. Beach is not nice so assume you will spend most of your time at the pool. Nice show in the evening. Go to San Jose for lovely beach ! For our 2nd week we are in Iberostar Malaga playa but we really miss Barcelo hotel !

    “Resort Hotel”

Just returned from a 10 day holiday with my son. El Toyo as a resort. It isn't one basically. a beach, with little of no ammenities, no proper restaurants to talk of. Very little to do in the immediate location. You need a car if lazing by the pool isn't your thing. Almeria as an area has plenty to do is a beautiful place to go with plenty of history. But you need a car to get to these places. Roquetas, Almeria city, Cabo de Gata, where there is plenty of activities to do, are 10+ miles away from the hotel and there is no bus service to Cabo de Gata and further down the coast. To get to those places you must first go into Almeria. So this hotel is one for lazing by the pool and enjoying the ammenities within the hotel. Of which there are plenty. Pools are good, well serviced by attendents and plenty of activities organised. Evenings there is always some entertainment on until 12am. As we unfortunately found out as it was directly opposite our room. There's a spa and activities room for 13 - 17 year olds. Also activities organised for younger children, and nightly shows aswell for them. The majority of the guests are Spanish though, so it is all essentially orientated towards them. Other English speaking people have been critical of the language difficulties with staff. I didn't find this. Yes there s some difficulty, but not so much as to inhibit your ability to order things. Staff are pleasent and first and foremost are aware that they are there to help you enjoy your holiday. The bar area was a wee bit annoying where you saw Spanish people offered nuts or olives as they bought drinks, but you were not, but I asked and received. It's all about making the effort. Rooms were clean and tidy and comfortable enough. Cleaning of them was efficient and unobtrusive. The cleaners were the first staff you saw in the morning and they were friendly and pleasant, always with a smile on their faces. Food was well, I must say not disappointing, though it didn't live upto the "hype" others gave it in reviews. Buffet isn't my favourite form of food but after my first ever holiday in Spain this year in Mallorca, where we were treated to a great variety of food every night I was looking forward to this. The food wasn't bad in anyway, just not upto the expectations of a 4 star hotel. It was adequate. There was just enough choice. The menu in the pool restaurant was basic. There was no local "feel" to it. It was made slightly irritating however when havng lunch there, we saw 4 managers being treated to food "off the menu" But what was particularly galling abut the holiday, and it has been confirmed for me on my return when looking again at the pictures. But the reception staff feigned ignorance at the time is that the room I paid for a Superior with a sea view, those at the end of the hotel, was not given to me. The one by the theatre area we were situated on had a restricted view of the sea. So I would advise you if going to this hotel. Don't pay the extra for a sea view, because you get that anyway!!

“The perfect place for a perfect holiday...”

From the initial breathtaking view (through, past the pools, to the sea), to the quality of the food, the cleanliness of the rooms and the friendliness of the staff, this was the perfect place for the perfect holiday. The pools and rooms were spotless and the quality and range of food were amazing. Be sure to get down early for the buffet and bag yourself a sea-view table. Don't waste money on expensive transfers, either. There's a regular bus from the airport (look for the stop outside

    “5* Hotel”

My partner and I have recently returned from a weeks holiday. We had a all inclusive package, from the minute we arrived we were made feel welcome having no Spanish at all this did not matter. The pool facilities in the hotel we're brilliant, we had a ground floor garden room this was great and easy access to the pools and bar's. There was a great selection of different food's and alcohol. There is a lovely beach two minutes walk from the back of the hotel. The animations team was great we took part in a few activities they did, also the entertainment at night was good something for all ages, the location was quite but if your looking to relax this hotel is perfect.
