    “Great stay, lovely relaxed hotel”

Great location with beach and walks . Peaceful with good availability of sun beds. Great pool and spa. Good food and lots of choice including fresh fruit and salads. Good staff. Nice big room and very clean. Just right for a relaxing week. It’s nice not to have noise all the while.

    “Ideally situated for birdwatching.”

We stayed here for 2 weeks in the middle of April which included a SAGA birdwatching week. The birdwatching was very good, but I will concentrate on reviewing the hotel. The location was great and we really liked the low level design, the lovely gardens and pools and public areas. (Top marks for the fruit infused water available in reception.) We upgraded to a sea view room with balcony and were pleased to have paid the extra for the lovely view and peace and quiet. The room was spacious enough with a very large, comfortable bed. It lacked drawer space and hooks for jackets, but the wardrobe was adequate. There were tea making facilities and it was nice to have a fridge. The safe was expensive at €4 a day and we had teething troubles using it for the first day or so. The bathroom contained a bath with shower over, a toilet and bidet. The sink was outside the bathroom. The room was cleaned well enough but the location meant that the floor was often sandy so that sand got into the bed if you walked around in bare feet. Towels were not always changed even when wet and in need of changing and we also had to request clean sheets at one stage. The sliding door to the bathroom was heavy and awkward and one day would not move at all. Once reported this fault was quickly fixed. However the sink did not drain properly and on our penultimate day the shower soap dispenser fell off the wall onto my feet! The restaurant was spacious and light and airy. The buffet was very attractively presented with a wide variety of food including some show cooking of meat and fish. However the choice for vegetarians was very limited. Of course there was always a good selection of salads and usually a vegetable soup. I was told I could ask each day for a vegetarian main course but there was no choice and despite asking for very small portions the servings were far too big for me which meant food was wasted. In the end I ate vegetables (which were often tinned) and potatoes most days which was not very exciting. The desserts were always perfectly acceptable with an excellent choice of fresh fruit. Unfortunately the hot food was rarely hot. We drank the house red each night which we enjoyed. We did not try any other drinks. I made use of the small, but very pleasant spa on several occasions and enjoyed a massage. I swam in the outdoor pool on the warm days (not that many) and usually had it to myself. There were plenty of loungers and towels were available for refundable €10 deposit. We loved being able to walk to the beach along the boardwalk and to the shops along the beach or through the Enebrales reserve. We were dismayed at the quantity of litter (recyclable plastic, cans and glass) in the reserve but apparently this was due to a music festival the previous week! I was also upset that packed lunches provided for the birdwatching trips contained plastic bottles and fruit drinks with plastic straws in paper carriers and that all of this was routinely thrown into general waste bins rather than being brought back for recycling. I raised the issue of vegetarian choices and the issue of excessive use of plastic bottles etc with the SAGA rep who said he would mention it to the management. He suggested that I ask for a feedback form from reception but I was told I couldn't have one! I really hope that all the plastic used in the hotel is recycled.I I would recommend the hotel to birdwatchers.

    “Surprisingly good”

We came here on a Saga special interest birding holiday, and as an enthusiastic and independent birder I was a little worried that the field trips would be superficial and rushed. Wrong! Maria and Carlos provided an utterly professional service, and were as committed and skilled as any guides you’ll find on a traditional specialist birding company trip. We ended up with a species list of over 150 including both Bustards and Black Winged Kite -they know this vast area intimately and nail the target species every time. As a bonus, we also had Red Necked Nightjar right next to the hotel. The hotel itself though left something to be desired - the refurb of the rooms next year is overdue, and while all was clean and functional it was also a little shabby. The food on offer was good quality and enjoyable, but I have to say that it fell short of the standards I’ve enjoyed in similar all-inclusive hotels. The quality and variety of wines and spirits on offer was also disappointing. All in all though, a great holiday!

“Superb location for lovers of wildlife.”

My wife and I had a good ten day holiday at this hotel in late April. We had an excellent sea view balcony room, the buffet food was good and the entertainment quite decent considering what we had experienced at other tourist type hotels. All inclusive is very good value. Slight niggles over stocking the room with tea bags and the procedure for hiring the pool towels but these are only minor irritants. The location of the hotel is wonderful with the dunes, a long wild beach and Mediterranean woodland all "on the door step". The birdlife is first rate - Hoopoe, Saradinian and Dartford Warblers, Red-rumped Swallow, Spotless Starling, Yellow-legged Gull, Kentish Plover, Azure-winged Magpie and Woodchat Shrike are all common locally. The bird watching trips are really good value; especially to the Coto Donana - Manu is an excellent guide. A must is the flamenco show at a local bodega - genuine stuff !
