“If you find out, let me know, I will go there instead”

This is a lovely Hotel, located near the Beach, beautifully clean, very well run, and the room we had was very nice, Sea View etc It was an upgrade on the basic so I cant comment on the others. You do however, get what you pay for. The Pool was crystal clear, Waterfall, all lit at night, fabulous. The room servicing was very efficient and in all we were very happy with the layout. The food was excellent, and that is coming from a very fussy eater. If however, you go for breakfast at peak time 9am ish, it is a bit of a bun fight especially with the many people who like to hog the single bread knife and insist on cutting their slices to their exact measurements as if making a chair. You know the people I mean! And, if you want the orange juice its miles away from the displays, as someone else has previously commented. Well, I hear you say rather critically, after all that praise why not 5 stars, you've only given it 4? The only way I can explain is this. When you arrive there is music playing in the Reception. Okay, I know, every Hotel has to have it, we have to have it we are told, or some will say 'there is no atmosphere' or something similar. What about Breakfast? There is a big dining area, so at least we can keep moving tables away from the many speakers until the music in there is not as loud. Shall we go for Lunch later? The nice Sea facing lounge over there? But, instead of listening to the Sea we can listen to yet more music? Oh, your not hungry? Ok then, we can go to the very cramped Pool Area and listen to the piped music there instead. What my love? Your not in the Sun now? Ok, 'roll of eyes', lets move further down the Pool and listen to the tinny speaker playing music on the Life Guards mobile phone for his amusement? Just a minute, don't go, lets listen instead to the music of the Pool exercise classes instead, they start in a minute. Do you see where I'm coming from? and where that fifth Star went? For some reason, the dark suited 'Blue Sky' thinking Management high up in the Sky have all been brainwashed into thinking that we must have wall to wall music, from the time we get up, till we climb the wooden hills, still in a state of euphoria, over dosed with the days audible stimulation? I am a Musician myself, but music is a very personal thing, and do we need it what seems like every daylight minute of our stay? The average age of the customers at the time we were there was 55/60 years, easily, not 18-30. So, why was their day filled with some of the latest wailing Winnies and moaning Johnies? I am left wondering where the Management go for their Holidays. I wouldn't mind betting, after all their year of big music decision making they like to go for some peace and quiet, especially, if like us, they have to pay over £200 pounds a day for the privilege? If you find out, let me know, I will go there instead.

    “A curate’s egg.”

My wife and I recently returned & we seem to be out of kilter with most reviewers. Yes, the staff are first rate, very friendly and efficient. We were recommended some excellent local wines by the restaurant staff and also the reception staff were very accommodating when we wanted to upgrade our room, so full marks there. Obviously peoples views on the quality of the food is subjective and also influenced by how much they have travelled, but we thought the food was average, not bad, but as you would expect in this type of hotel. We had dinner out half of the time despite being on half board. Also there is no dress code for dinner, fine if you are that way inclined, but personally I prefer not to be surrounded by men in shorts and vests at dinner, but that’s just my opinion. The tables are very close together, but to be fair, that is a common problem. My wife was very disappointed with our original De luxe sea view room ,as there was little room to move and we felt it was poorly designed, particularly with regards to the toilet facilities. Fortunately I only had to endure the complaints for two nights as the very helpful reception staff managed to find us a suite ,for an extra €35 a night, which was much larger and well worth the extra——- we still didn’t like the toilet arrangements though. It must be a Spanish speaking world thing, as we have experienced it in Mexico, but as an Anglo Saxon I like the toilet to have a non glass, soundproof door. If you on honeymoon or holidaying with a new partner then prepare to be embarrassed. We didn’t spend too much time by the pool, due to the incessant wind. In my experience Costa Teguise is second only to the Cape Verde islands for wind, though it’s a pretty close run thing. Like the restaurant, everything around the pool felt crowded with no privacy, so we may not have spent that much time there anyway. The hotel is well situated for local bars and restaurants, which vary greatly in their quality. All in all we had a rather disappointing holiday, due almost exclusively to the constant wind, and won’t be returning to Costa Teguise. If you are going then I have no doubt that you could do much worse than the Barcelo Teguise beach.

    “Don’t do it!”

Oh, where to start! No hotel parking, so go by taxi from airport, otherwise no chance to park as it’s so busy in C Tig’. Hotel will not sort parking for you. High spec room with whirl pool bath, it’s so high up the wind makes it impossible to use. Way too windy and cold. Lower level rooms at least have glass to protect them a little. I’m old fashioned and like a bathroom door! If you don’t mind the privacy of a prison block, then go for a fancy room. Good you can see the main 4 UK channels on the tv. Half board - breakfast is like a public school scramble. The layout of the food is ridiculous, try finding some orange juice on your first day! Fried eggs were the highlight. Evening meal, only managed 2/7 poor atmosphere, layout feels like eating on M25, food was ok, I guess. Overall extremely disappointing and impersonal. The resort, now I know why folks looked skyward when we told them we were going! Go to s G Canaria, miles better in every respect. Please consider carefully.

    “Amazing stay, fabulous hotel”

I chose this hotel to stay for my 40th birthday. We checked in and loved the complimentary glass of cava. We had a junior suite at the side with a sea view and huge balcony. The suite was gorgeous and loved all the little extras. Loved the huge bed!! On my birthday, a staff member surprised us with a bottle of bubbly whilst we were in the hot tub, which was a lovely surprise. Although we were half board, we actually only had breakfast once (lots of choice) and 2 evening meals. I loved the choice and the stir frys were delicious. We just liked eating out. I loved the swimming pools (people said they were cold) I found very pleasant after going in the freezing sea. Drinks were a bit more expensive than surrounding bars, but as expected for a hotel. Nearby Logan's bar was great for sports, loved the sun terrace at Abbey Road and prices amazing. I want to thank the Barcelo for a great stay, fantastic birthday surprise!!

    “Sea view rooms very noisy”

A mixed bag. The sea view rooms are located above the beach promenade with bars restaurants and shops underneath so music and noise into the early hours. The restaurant is great good food, lots of choice, high quality and very well run. If you want tranquility and sea views better to go for other hotels which directly front the beach
