    “Excellent hotel for rail travellers - but for us too far from centre.”

    This is an excellent hotel if you want to be next to the train station with connections to the coastal resorts, airport ,Madrid, Seville . If you want to be in the centre near the Cathedral, shops and museums then the Barceló is not for you. It's a good 20 minutes walk - longer to the waterfront or a short taxi ride. The rooms, we had a Superior are large and well appointed with a very comfortable bed. One excellent feature was the waist high safe -no on your knees in the bottom of the wardrobe !!! The room was oppressively warm - we were unable to control the aircon to below 20.5 degrees and because of the traffic noise were unable to leave the window open. Breakfast was excellent, a fantastic selection everything you could possibly want. The taxi to the airport took only 15 minutes.

    “Room with water damage and smell”

    Normally, I'm very happy with the service and quality of Barcelo. This time, though, I was disappointed. The room I was offered had a water damage and a smell that affected my nose. I was offered another room that also smelled but this time from cleaning supplies. The location of the hotel is very convenient if you are traveling and using train. Otherwise, it is a little too far from the centre of the city

We do apologize for the technical problems you encountered with water; there are absolutely no excuses for details to be overlooked as all rooms are thoroughly checked on a daily basis. We will make sure that the procedure is being reinforced. Regarding the air refreshener we use to clean the rooms, we do not seem to find records that our staff had been made aware of that while staying with us; naturally we would have changed the housekkeping procedures in order to find the proper scent for you. Thank you again for your visit and constructive critics, our primary goal being to assure our guests feel comfortable and fully enjoy their visits, we are eager to regain your confidence during another occasion if you gave us that chance.     “2 days”

    Nice rooms, clean and not to small. We had a nice view, in the 8 floor. Fantastic breakfast, A little too long and boring distance to walk back and forth to the old towncenter every day. Easy to park the car, but quite expensive.

    “Nice efficient hotel”

    Definitely a 4 star hotel with professional service, courtesy and charm. The breakfast was good with substantial choice. The rooms themselves are well equipped, nicely designed as is the rest of the hotel. The design inside stands out. The bar on reception-level is small but effective, with good service and choice of alcohol. Outside seating is available as you enter the hotel. I was in 2 rooms due to a room move (maintenance noise issues, but which was handled correctly). The rooms can be a little too hot and the aircon could go a bit lower. Its minimum is 20.5. Tv choice is poor for English viewers and pay for film on demand would be a beneficial move for a hotel of this quality, as escaping the bustle of the city at the end of the day is a must. Cleanliness of rooms whilst not a major problem could be improved, definitely time for a deep clean. The hotel is situated approx 15 minute walk from the historic centre and right by the train station. There is a rear entrance to the station near reception and the station complex has good shopping, a choice of fast food outlets and a supermarket. I also hear that they are building a swimming pool to compliment their well equipped gym. Overall the concept of this hotel is excellent and I would definitely return but would like to see the points above rectified.

    “Great place to stay ”

    Stayed here between Christmas and new year with my wife and grown up children. Couldn’t find anything to criticise. The price/quality ratio was high. Comfortable rooms, very quirky chain hotel that didn’t feel like part of a chain, really excellent breakfast and friendly and efficient service. The only possible downsides were that it was a fifteen minute walk to the old town and a bit longer to the port area but I knew this when I booked and obviously was reflected in the price. Also it is part of the main train station complex but do not let this put you off. Main stations areas can be seedy and a bit grubby with undesirables there. This was not the case in Malaga. Highly recommended. We have decided to do the same break again for Christmas 2018.
