    For goodness sake stay away from this hotel. We just got back after 14 days of hell. The room was disgusting the food was horrible the whole place is completely run down.If you want to go there and get drunk and stay drunk then you wont have a problem the place was full of teenagers from Quebec and that is exactly what they did.They ran around at three oclock in the morning banging on the room doors no security at all .I have lots of photos of the room but I have no idea how to post them.

    “DO NOT STAY HERE EVER! BE WARNED! HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!”

    My friend and I booked this hotel to celebrate my birthday as I had stayed here about 10 years previous, and had liked it then. We arrived on January 3, 2020 and the check in process was fine. When were arrived in our room, we were shocked at the condition. There was mold on the walls, broken tiles in the bathroom that hadn't been fixed, the door frame was barely holding the room door up, the shower door was hanging by a thread and eventually fell off during a shower, and we could hardly open the patio door. The food was not fit for human consumption, and in fact we both got very sick from it day one. There was no variety or selection, it smelled bad, and tasted bad. As I was so sick, I lived on bread and rice the whole week. That's all we could stomach. The selections were exactly the same for all 3 meals every day, and it was cold, it was never hot. There was a poor selection of fruit, and what wasn't used one day was put out again the next. The service in the dining room was horrible, slow, if any at all. Tables weren't wiped off after people left. There was no ice for drinks for 3 days, and we were told they didn't know for how long, or why. Their laundry facilities were down, and we never got clean towels for 3 days. Three of the 5 elevators were down the whole time we were there, and never once saw repairman, the one elevator in our section was down twice. But the icing on the cake from the moment we got there, was, there was likely over 200 young people from Quebec City who were there on some sort of school break, and were obnoxious, rude, extremely loud, and over served alcohol till all hours of the night, which caused fights, loud booming music, yelling and partying until 530-600 a.m. every single day. These youths ranged in age between 15-24 - unsupervised. We never slept one night our whole vacation, as they were not controlled by security or the hotel management. In fact, I believe the hotel catered to these young people more that other guests. We complained to the front desk on more than once occasion only to have it fall on deaf ears. We spoke to several other couples who had the same concerns, and were thoroughly disgusted. Some packing up and going to other hotels. This by far was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in at Varadero. We couldn't wait to leave and will never ever stay at this Barcelo again. Stay away from this dump!

    “THE WORST HOTEL WE HAVE EVER BEEN TO”

    It is unethical of BOOKING.COM to offer this hotel. The hotel is a total disaster. On photos, it may look ok but almost every room has problems of one kind or another. We changed rooms 4 times during our 11 day stay. First of all, we felt cheated. We booked a superior double room with seaview. And we got it, but it was not beachfront but main road front. The room smelled petrol. Then we changed to a bungalow but it was so damp so we practically slept in wet bedsheets. Then we finally moved to a beachfront hotel room on the fourth floor. Finally, we got what we paid for. But, young Canadians are shouting the whole night and they are EXTREMELY LOUD. You simply do not know where to hide. In the third room, the shower did not work. And because of this awful noise we now moved to another bungalow. The fourth room was ok but we always struggled to open the door. It is unethical and rude of Booking.com to offer this hotel and take money. The main reason is the noise. About 50 young Canadians having fun spoil vacations to more than 400 other customers. The hotel does not do anything about. I wouldn't dream of swimming in their pools. It is full of urine. They also have potholes. One Swedish family they left the hotel earlier even if they paid for the hotel. Also the husband in the family stepped into such a pothole and arrived in an emergency room. Just because of so many maintenance problems, I believe the whole hotel should be destroyed and a new one should be built.

    “Good Deal with Kids in Solymar”

    Kids stay free in Cuban resorts. That means the cheapest vacation in the Caribbean. As the hotels are somewhat run down so we paid extra for a renovated room with the children. There were still minor problems but the room was of a good size, clean and bright. Stay away from the regular rooms. Another guest mentioned that she has changed rooms four times during her 7 day visit. The beach is excellent with free sailing and paddle boat experience. The food is fine, we always could find something tasty. Forget about the kid's club. No one uses it and rightly so. I feel we got good value for the money, get the renovated room.
