    “People in this hotel are rude!”

    The hotel is beautiful. But the employees are not that nice. Guys are ok they are nice but most of the females are very rude and they always have bad attitude. They only nice were Ambar from the front desk and Gissele from guest service. Jennifer from the front desk was very rude made the check in and check out very difficult.

    “Pleasantly surprised !”

    This hotel is the whole package. Do not turn away from this place, you won't regret it ! Some of the negative reviews on here are not true ! Our room was clean and bed very comfortable ! The pools are beautiful and the kids play area is amazing! We did the Tokyo and French restaurant but the buffet is what kept us coming back ! The food is plenty and very good ! The beach is beautiful of course ! I would recommend this place to anyone and would definitely go back ! The only thing I would avoid is the Casino for sure !!!

    “Excellent cost/benefit”

    Occidental Caribe is a very good cost / benefit option, considering the hotel structure, room size and customer service. In comparison with other resorts in Punta Cana, this one is small (what is an advantage, in my opinion). You don’t need transportation to go to the beach and you can walk around and enjoy the whole hotel structure very easily. The quantity of restaurants for dinner is also very good with many gastronomic options. I stayed in the suite premium level, which is a perfect option for 3/4 people that need privacy. It is one big room with 2 different spaces, including 2 bathrooms. However, I have some observations that should be considered: - WI-FI: You lose the connection very frequently and need to reconnect every time. Moreover, the connection is poor in several places of the hotel. - Drinks: Just OK, not very good. The wine is terrible. - Restaurants: We loved the customer service of the Mexican restaurant. They are very nice and supported us with all our needs. Food is also very good. We didn´t like the Japanese restaurant. The taste of the food didn't attend our expectation. Regardless of the restaurant, you will need to book a place for dinner in advance. The only restaurant that does not require the booking service is the main restaurant (buffet). However, you will probably have lunch in this restaurant. So, not a good deal if you don’t want to repeat the environment for dinner. - The hotel should improve the options for lunch time, considering there is only the buffet and mexican restaurant to choose. - Recreation: In comparison with other resorts, we do not believe the team is very good. They did not attract us to join the few activities that were part of the recreation schedule. - Barcelo Vacations: When you arrive at the hotel, the reception asks you to wear a yellow bracelet. This is a sign for the Barcelo vacaciones (the tourism agency from the hotel) that you didn't book any tour activities or the airport shuttle.The guys from this agency keep trying to arrange some tour for you until you find a way to take that bracelet off. Roberto, the agency manager, should never be responsible to be in contact with tourists. He is a completely non-emphatetic person. Wearing this bracelet was very annoying for me. As final comments, I highly recommend you to consider the "my barcelo" program when booking the stay, since there are several benefits when you are part of the hotel loyalty program (ej. gift voucher to use in the hotel shop and free WI-FI). I would consider staying in this hotel again for the price I paid and the hotel structure.

    “Vacation Time”

    I want to start taking about the Hotel staff was excellent, and also want to mention Nancy Mercedes and her team as one of the best resources this hotel has. They make feel all customers like home! Food at the hotel buffet was above average. Yes, they have variety but almost the same every day. Hotel opportunities: Based on my standard, the facilities is below average. The room assigned had a lot to improve. Air conditioning was not functioning well. Called three times to customer service, but it never got fixed. Saw others complaining about theirs, so I believe a room change may not work. The bathroom extractor didn't exist! Same in other bedrooms the extractor didn't exist... Bathrooms at the pool needs cleaning; there was also bad odor in some pool areas that belongs to "stink bathroom water". The game room facilities also need to be repaired/painted. If I am asked to return to Occidental Caribe, I will say no. Also would not recommend to any of my colleagues.

    “Hotel staff”

    We stayed at this hotel with my whole family to celebrate my mums 60th birthday, the hotel is beautiful, especially the staff, the staff are amazing, one staff in particular Rene Candelario from the reception was amazing, always ready to help with a smile, he made our stay very enjoyable and he made us feel very welcome, i have recommended this hotel to many of my friends and they are all excited to visit and of course looking forward to meeting Rene.Many thanks Rene, you are the best, from Mavis and my family in London.

    “Pleasantly surprised !”
