    “Guys... this is THEE best! ”

    I have NEVER laughed as hard as i have on this holiday #day3. The craic is 90! Guys This place is STUNNING! All these bad reviews on here are how you say ........, pure #nutjobs. From the house keeping to the ground staff... so friendly. If your looking an all inclusive holiday thats budget friendly this is your gaff! Just been for dinner... the grub is HOT and plentyful... again... reviews on here are stupid!! Elvis tribute was on last night, roared with the bants! Now on with our holipops!

    “Day 2 summary”

    Day 2 and three meals in no sight or sound of any illness, the First Choice Rep Adam said they had not had any new cases of gastro for 5 days. The hotel is spotless and the food we have consumed was hot and we have enjoyed the variety so far. So please don’t be put off by previous reviews. Will keep you posted

    “A Great time in the Occidental jandia Mar”

    Spent a week at this hotel from 10th March. The hotel was great the only negative comment would be amount of steps to our accommodation. If I stayed at this hotel again I would request a ground floor room. Although we read some negative reviews about illness within the hotel and on day 2 of the holiday we received a letter from our Jet2 rep letting us now about unexplained sickness. To be honest we had no issue as hotel was spotless and so was the restaurant. The restaurant had hand stanisers at the entrance but it was surprising to see the amount of people who didn't use it before entering the restaurant. The entertainment staff were excellent with the children and there was something for everyone. The reasons for the 4 stars was due to the location of our room. I'm sure if you needed a ground floor room it wouldn't be hard to request. I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel.

    “Unsafe. Avoid this hotel”

    As I write this there are still people being ill at this hotel. We were there over 3 weeks ago now, and 3 out of the 4 of us were violently ill. It totally ruined the holiday. The hotel is not clean and is unhygienic. This is the last time I will ever go with this chain and the last time we will holiday with Jet 2. We have contacted Jet 2 recently and they are sticking to the story of a virus. This has been going on for a month now. I highly doubt that this is a virus after this length of time. Jet 2 are as accountable as the chain. The good in this hotel is cold, bland and not safe.

We would like to point out that our hotel has taken independent audits sent both by the company and the tour operators we collaborate with ensuring our strict food safety management procedures, imposed on a global level by the company. The past weeks, there has been a gastrointeritis outbreak around the area of Esquinzo and Jandía, having some cases in the north of the island too. I can ensure there has not been any new cases. We have medical statements regarding this issue ensuring is a virus afecting the digestive system and spread by air like the respiratory system viruses. We have followed very strict protocols to guarantee hygiene and cleanliness with audits to ensure the propagation has stopped. Again, thank you for your perspective and for sharing your concerns.     “Hygiene disgraceful - hotel not as described”

    we had a week away at this resort and on arrival we found it to be in a state of disrepair and refurbishment was needed all around. Both myself and partner both commented on how we thought that this couldn't possibly be a 4 star Hotel as the rooms were dark and dismal and on top of this, no matter what time we used the restaurant the food was always cold, on the Saturday as we were walking along from the apartment, my partner stepped in a sticky substance that was on the floor and this was still the same on the day that we left the resort - There was also a time when there was a big pool of sick on the ground for a vast amount of the day that was never cleaned up until my partner spoke to reception as funnily no one else had complained about this, when this was finally cleaned up the area was cleaned with a broom and only cold water - no disinfectant was used. Consequently a few days later my partner became very unwell with a "sickness bug" that was apparently doing the rounds but there was no information advising holiday makers that this was ongoing and this required a hospital visit and being put on a drip. On returning to the UK I found no information regarding this outbreak nor has it happened in the previous 10 years according to various sources so my conclusion is that this must have been an outbreak of FOOD POISONING

Unfortunately, it is not uncommon at this time of the year that there are small outbreaks of Gastroenteritis on the island and we do everything we can in that event to contain the spread by encouraging our guests to use the disinfectant hand wash dispensers in our dining areas and to be respectful when selecting items from our buffet displays using the utensils provided, however we would like to take the opportunity to point out that our hotel, like all hotels of our chain, undergoes regular independent audits sent both by the company and the tour operators we collaborate with to ensure our strict food safety management procedures, imposed on a global level by the company, are being followed and thoroughly respected at all times as under no circumstances would we put our guests’ health at risk by serving food in bad conditions, your safety being of course our main concern. We deeply regret the situation that tells us. In any case, we would like to inform you of the measures that we follow to avoid these cases. We carry out a rigorous quality control (HACCP) and a hygienic - sanitary audit by an external company that aims to ensure the safety of food. If we find ourselves with this situation we have defined a protocol of action after analyzing the corresponding type of infection that has occurred that affects the kitchen area and includes an analytical follow-up of cleaning and disinfection of the affected area. We appreciate the time you took to share your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the future. Kind regards,
