Our transfer from the Punta Cana airport to the hotel took around 20 minutes and cost $30. As soon as we arrived to the hotel, I found it looks great and welcoming Beach: I was enjoying the beach so much. The hotel is located on the gorgeous seafront of Bavaro Beach, which is one of the best beaches in Punta Cana. The coast is protected by the coral reef so there are no big waves and the beach is very suitable for swimming. Yes, the beach has a lot of seaweed but the hotel staff were constantly cleaned it. It was not the same situation every day, it depends on the weather. Territory: The territory is very big and simply beautiful. It was so nice to walk through the green path and see flamingos near the golf field. Room: Our room featured a jacuzzi tub on the balcony with an ocean view what was a super romantic. The room was spacious and well-designed. The bed was very cozy and comfortable. I like the modern design of the bathroom. WiFi was not free - it cost 45$ for 7 days. Food: The food experience was incredible. During our stay we had the chance to have a dinner in four a la carte restaurants, which were so good. I highly recommend to try Japanese restaurant and watch the chief’s show there. Overall we were very impressed by the food in terms of variety and taste. It was a lot of tropical fruits and fresh juices. The seafood was delicious. I suggest to try a traditional Dominican-style buffet. Waiters are very friendly. Entertainment: We were not staying all the time in the hotel but you won’t get bored there. There is beautiful SPA, gym, tennis court, beach volleyball, kayaking and parasailing…or you can just chill at the pool area.

“For the money, what you get is good”

Let me start off by saying I am a New York born and raised on Long Island. New York has some of the best assortments of food and some beautiful beaches. That is my reference point for food and sandy beaches. My wife and I attended a destination wedding. The flight and accommodations were around $2000 for both of us for the week at the premium level. It is a nice deal via Delta. It is a twenty minute ride from the airport to the facility. Check in was at the main lobby, which is not air conditioned. Staff provides you with drinks as you wait to check in. The desk staff has a working command of the English language. There explanation of the facility was not complete when asked about the facilities, but sufficient enough to register you. We found this typical, we get an answer but not a fully explained answer (like "internet access is $12 a day; leaving out that you get 15 minutes free to get your return boarding passes or that your premium level gives you unlimited access). The beach was fine white sand with beach chairs and palm trees for shade. The Ocean was cloudy and did have its fair share of seaweed. Water temps were in the 80s, so it wasn't exactly refreshing to take a dip when the air temps were in the high 80s and the humidity was in the 80s too. Ocean bed was a mix of fine sand with seaweed beds farther out. Back on the beach was a life guard, about half the time, when the beach was open. There was any strong currents or waves, so the Ocean was ideal for wading. It was also deep enough to swim in. The beach is a minutes walk from most rooms. By the beach, paddle boards, wind surfing and kayaks were available. Most of the time the winds made using these free activities a bit of a challenge even for the most fit people. The pools are clean and convenient. Chairs under the shelters are at a premium. The pool is fresh water and typically 4 ft deep or so. There was plenty of room to enjoy the 85 degree F water. There were two types of food facilities. The buffet and the restaurants. The buffet is your only choices for breakfast and lunch. The buffet is available for dinner too. The buffet is comparable to a buffet on a cruise line, wide selection, some cooking stations and a dessert bar. Choices were pretty static with some rotation of choices. Most items are palatable, nothing outstanding. Fruits tended to be under ripe (watermelon, cantaloupe, apples, strawberries), some where excellent (pineapple, mango). Expect things like eggs, bacon, steak, and hamburger to we well cooked. Ice milk is the standard instead of ice cream. The special restaurants ranged from very good (French Restaurant, Japanese Hibachi) to poor (seafood Restaurant), with most being ok (Spanish, Italian, some items in the Sports Bar). Service was good. The staff generally was able to understand English when ordering. Any special requests generally required assistance from a more proficient speaking staff member. Expect some translation confusion between the menus and what you get. The English menu don't always adequately describe what is prepared. Good side is that if you don't like it, you simply get something else. The "all you can drink" options were standard around the resort. A bit watered down, except at the Carvey Lounge, but acceptable. Wine list were available for special drinks. Be careful of the charges. You can ONLY charge by credit card or by charge to the room at the stores, no cash. Credit cards have a 18% surcharge over the marked price. This 18% applies too if you pay your charges to your room bill by credit card instead of cash. Be prepared for your room to be air conditioned and the restaurants. Nothing else is air conditions (show auditorium, hallways). In the 85 F weather with 80% humidity, it can be stressful and sticky. We stayed a week. We felt that 4 or 5 days with the wedding would have been enough. For the cost it wasn't bad.

    “A Great Place”

Hi there, as a frequent traveller it is easy to say that Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe is one of the best resorts i have ever stayed in. It is my 3rd time now coming back to this wonderful place. Talking about a wonderful place mean good restaurants and friendly staff for me. The restaurant selection and even the normal buffet is simply amazing. Quality of the food and service are at the highest level. The complex at it self is big, beautiful and has lots of possibilities to spend your day. Rooms are nice always cleaned. The Jaquzzi on the balcony is one more cool thing. For all you party animals there are plenty of bars and a cool club. Unfortunately is was a little bit dissapointed as we arrived yesterday for the third time and there was no special thanks or anything similar. It are the small things that make the big difference! :-) Thanks to Barcelo and the whole team! Best regards Diego
