“Great Resort with Excellant and Friendly Staff”

This is our second time visiting Occidental Nuevo Vallarta and our first time since Barcelo has taken over. From the time we arrived to the time we left everything went smoothly. A small resort compared to most but you have everything you could possibly want. The food was great in both the buffet and the specialty restaurants. We went to the Italian Restaurant twice and would have gone to Tokyo Restaurant again if we had the time. The beach was great with free boogie boards and kayak's. The bike ride (free) tour to the dolphins was fun, missed the bike tour to the zoo but heard that was great also. We had a huge room overlooking the water, great view with a balcony. We are First Club members and were treated like royalty. Israel, Daniella ad Raul were great in making our stay comfortable - thanks again! There wasn't one thing that they wouldn't do or help us with. The staff at Nuevo Vallarta were unbelievable, the most happy and helpful staff I have seen in a long time.I have to give mention Agustin Loeza.c at the Royal/First Club pool, a bartender that actually went out of his way to make sure everyone had what they needed and did this with a smile. I would definitely go back again.

    “Exceptional for the money”

We are OVC members having visited 2/22-3/1. Prior to this visit we were last here in 2004. This is a smaller all inclusive with less than 300 rooms. Since our first visit many years ago, awesome additions have been made. They now have a spa on site with extraordinary services that are about 1/2 the costs of other hotels. Liquor is top shelf in both the first club and Royal level and we were so happy to see Juan, who was our bartender 13 years ago at the first club. That is saying something about the quality of the staff that they have here in Nuevo Vallarta. In addition to a small private hot tub by the first club, they put in a larger members only heated pool and hot tub area with private bar with top shelf liquors and poolside service. Beach is extraordinary and is endless to the north. You could walk all the way to Bucerias in about 1 1/2 hours. You never see seaweed and virtually no stones or shells on the beach. A delightful place to walk with the Bay of Banderas gently washing ashore. The Royal level restaurant offers several great entrees, all served from a master chef. Daniel who is the manager here will go above and beyond to make every wish come true. On the Royal level, there is a private bar where once again, top shelf liquors are abundant. If the don't have something, they will go out of their way to get it for you. I would recommend googling a you tube video on occidental Nuevo Vallarta. I recently viewed it after coming back from vacation and it brought back so many fine memories. The fun club works hard during the day and helping to put on the amazing shows at night. On the you tube video is the song that ended the show each night. For those of you who have been here, it should bring a big smile to your face. For those of you who are planning your trip, it will help you see the great things that this hotel and staff can do to pamper you. In closing, the hotel caters to all ages but Nuevo Vallarta is generally a 50+ destination. I have never seen so many older couples walking the beach, hand in hand. Just a very special place! We had 7 beautiful days and never saw a cloud in the sky. See you in February 2018!

    “Great Little Resort”

Just returned from a 7 day trip, May 16-23rd staying at the Occidental Nuevo Vallarta. A special thanks to Tracy Mueller from Island Dreams. She coordinated every detail of our vacation for our entire group of 10. Several of us stayed on the 3rd floor and a few of us stayed on the 5th floor. Our room was 534. The room was very clean, and it was a perfect temperature. We also had an unobstructed view of the pool and the ocean. We had breakfast and a few dinners in the buffet. The waiters were very helpful, carrying the plates back to the table for a few of our group. The food was good and had a nice variety. The pool was nice, and had ample seating. No problems with "the towel game" where people save seats, and never show up. All 10 of us were able to sit together poolside everyday. The bartenders and waitresses at the pool were excellent. We never had a problem getting service. The beach was swimmable, and very wide. Great to take long walks. Service was great in the lobby bar, as well as in the ala cart restaurants. The entertainment poolside was fun. We played darts, volley ball and participated in a few contests. We also enjoyed the bike rides. A special thanks goes to Yahir Garcia for our speedy check in, Ulises at the pool bar for great service, and to Jonathan Reyes for the great bike ride and fun around the pool. He was very entertaining all week, and I can see him being promoted soon!

    “Great family vacation”

Had a fantastic time with our family. Loved the upgraded Royal Club. Had fantastic bar tender poolside Augustine, and in the Royal club Ricardo was the best! Good food on buffet and in the restaurants. Beautiful pools. Loved that it is right on the beach.

    “It's alright..”

Ok so it's alright. We didn't do the whole club upgrade and that's why we probably didn't like it as much. Ok the food was good but the room was a bit of a disappointment. Using PVC pipe as shower curtain rods and the a.c. was leaking and the 2nd time they moved us after they noticed we were not going to stand having a puddle of water on the floor. The staff is amazing. So nice most can speak some english. The beach is great and the hotel location is good. There is a little shopping center across the way. The main problem is they market it you as a luxury hotel. I would say it's a 3 star at best. The little details are not tied up. The food seems to be the same almost every other day. But I must say the waiting staff is amazing. They kept my son entertained and that's hard to do. The shows are free and Michel Jackson show was great!
