    “' NOT FOR US '”

Booked through TUI website which had 28% off this complex. Stayed 8th - 18th June and flew out on the Thomson Dreamliner which was great and on time. On arrival we had to wait 2 hours for our room to be ready and on arrival at the room in Block 1 it was very small with a small double bed in it and on the 1st floor right above the table tennis tables. Returned to reception and asked to be moved as we had booked a twin room. Moved to a room in block 9 where the balcony looked out straight at a huge tree with no other view at all. This room was above the pool bar and near to the 2 upper pools - very noisy all the time - not a great start. We had booked half board but found the drinks to be very expensive, 2 euros 10 cents for a small bottle of water each with the evening meal. On our 3rd day we paid nearly 300 euros to upgrade to all inclusive which in the end was well worth it. The food here was very good with breakfast being the best meal but as others have said it was difficult to get more that one drink with your meal as the restaurant staff were so busy. We went as a couple but the complex was geared up for kids and would have been great for the grandchildren. Found the adult only pool hoping for a nice relaxing couple of hours on a sunbed but, no the adult only pool was right next to the barcy childrens club and as you can imagine was very noisy. There were many different nationalities here but the majority were French. This complex is definitely not suitable for mature couples and we would certainly not visit again.

    “Excellent for families”

Booked a Thomas Cooke All inclusive package holiday to this hotel. It is a lovely hotel for families but as 2 pensioners we found it a a bit noisy especially at mealtimes. We had paid for all inclusive we thought (wrongly) that we would have a choice of wines at mealtimes, but no there was 1 of white, rose and red, and anything other than that you had to pay extra. It was served by the waiters a glass at a time, and as they were very busy only 1 glass was forthcoming. The food there is excellent and the choices varied and plentiful. The rooms were cleaned every day and we were lucky to get a room at the back which was peaceful. The room was big enough with enough storage, and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was through a glass sliding door, and when you had a shower all of the water flowed onto the bathroom floor soaking bathmats, towels and anything else left on the floor. I did wonder whether there should also have been an extractor fan as everything steamed up. As I said before a great hotel for families. The staff are very friendly and work very hard to please everyone.

Hotel B, Director de Relaciones Públicas at Occidental Menorca, responded to this review
Dear Guest: Thank you for your insights following your recent visit. We always look for ways to improve and your comments are crucial to our future success. Regarding the shower issue, we are sorry if there was a problem with the equipment in your room; we would have sent our maintenance staff immediately to repair it had we known. Also, we are grateful for your highlight on the efforts of our maids to keep our installations and accommodations spotless at all times in order to guarantee our high standards related to hygiene and cleanliness which is one of the most important aspects for Barceló. moreover, we regret your disappointment regarding the extra charge for some drinks for our All Inclusive guests, although we would like to take the opportunity to point out that only a few Premium drinks and liquors are not included and subject to a reduced extra charge comparing to the prices charged for other types of meal plans in the hotel. Thank you again for choosing our hotel on this occasion and for the courtesy of your time, even though we understand that this was not the best fit for your travel party, therefore we strongly encourage you for a future occasion to contact our call center from where our agents will be able to give you all the relevant information to make sure that you book the Barceló hotel that can make all your holiday wishes come true. “Great hotel!”

We stayed 9th-16th June. Started our holiday on the Dreamliner with Tui flight was more or less on time. We arrived at the hotel via taxi transfer with TUI. After a hiccup at check in (double booking our room & giving us someone else’s) this was sorted out in the end. There was confusion as she had us down for half board but we had booked All inclusive. Travelling as a young couple without children. I work in a nursery and even I was assounded by the amount of children at the hotel. It was evident that the alpi club did so much to keep the children and adults entertained. They were all so well behaved and didn’t Spoil our holiday. So if you don’t like kids or noise you best steer clear. This was not a quiet peaceful holiday. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends who have families. The bar staff were amazing tending to all your needs. They were very efficient and the drinks on the All inclusive menu were plentiful. Sangria, Pomada and All inclusive cocktails were on the top of our list. At the snack bar you will find chicken nuggets, sandwiches, chips, onion rings, salad available throughout the day as well as ice cream. All were of a high standard and replenished on a regular basis. The odd occasion they were a little cold but this was understandable. The food in the main buffet was lovely. Sometimes a little repetitive but what else do you expect at an All inclusive Buffett. You can see what’s available each night from a lcd screen flicking through the electronic menu. Which I found really informative. The hotel put on cuisine nights. We had Italian and Mexican night which were our favourites. Who doesn’t like pizza and nachos? All food was enjoyable and there was always something to eat. Whilst in the restaurant the the staff were quick to bring you a drink, it appeared that whilst in there you were only able to order one drink. They were so busy clearing tables and setting up that you could understand. A few of the staff appeared very stressed and somewhat abrupt sometimes. The room was small with just enough room to walk around the bed. But it’s a hotel room again what more do you need. The bathroom is walled off with a glass screen so if your travelling as friends or a couple who don’t know each other very well then you may just have to send the other person on the balcony as it leaves nothing to the imagination. The beds were comfortable enough. They were memory foam. The air conditioning is free and is very good. There is enough storage for 2 people and a small fridge to store water. Punta Prima is a little town with a few restaurants and small supermarkets. There is a few parks for children in the area and rides for small children on the beach front. The beach was beautiful white sand and very shallow water. Just watch out for the jelly fish. If you like a walk there is a few places you could walk to we walked to Binibèquer it took us around an hour stroll. The beach is beautiful about 40 minutes for the hotel. Then if you carry on another 20 minutes you will find the old village. Very quaint with painted White Houses (very Greek). We also walked in the other direction towards st Luis along a coastal path beautiful views along the way and a little harbour and small cove. Thank you Occidental Menorca for having us. Weve had a lovely week.

    “Family holiday”

Stayed here in early June and the weather was mixed but still warm. The hotel is on a big site and very close to a small but lovely beach. The water is so clear and it is waist high for about 50m out so great for kids. Punta Prima is quiet but very family orientated. A few shops, supermarkets and restaurants is all really but that was fine with us as we were all inclusive. The capital Mahon is 20 mins away on a bus and is only a couple of euros. Bus stop is outside the hotel. The port is great and worth a day out. Hotel is very new looking, standards are high and our family room was big and what you would expect from a high end British hotel. Beds were comfy. There are 2 main pools which are a good size. All the pools are salt water but it was nice and kids never noticed. There is a brilliant kids splash park which has a big paddling pool with slides as well as a 3rd smaller pool. There are play parks on site and a public one next to it. There are always plenty of sun beds. The food is buffet style and was high quality with plenty of choice. The desserts in particular were fantastic. The all inclusive drinks were good, the beer and gin were really nice, soft drinks for the kids, slushies, ice creams, bottled water. Burgers, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, chips, cheese and ham toasties, sandwiches throughout the day kept the kids happy. Nearby supermarkets if you want anything else but we didn’t need anything. The staff were very good and we had a great stay. I would go back again
