Stop at: Visita Palma
Palma, capital of the Spanish island of Mallorca, is a tourist city located in the west of the Mediterranean Sea. The immense Cathedral of Santa María, a Gothic monument that began to be built in the 13th century, dominates the skyline of the bay of Palma.
Stop at: Casco antiguo
Stop at: La Lonja
La Lonja de Palma, is the best building, of the civil Gothic of Mallorca.
The great activity that existed in the port of Palma de Mallorca made it necessary to build an important building, La Lonja as a commercial exchange and as a meeting place for merchants.
Built between 1420 and 1452 by Guillem Sagrera
Its floor plan is rectangular covered with ribbed vaults. It forms a single space divided into twelve parts by six pillars without a base or capital that rise towards the ceiling to form the ribs of the vaults. These six pillars look like stone palm trees.
Above the entrance door there is a large sculpture of the Guardian Angel , attributed to Guillem Sagrera himself, who was a sculptor as well as an architect.
The angel holds a band with the legend "Defender of the Merchandise".
Las Lonjas were public buildings for commercial uses, commercial contracts, banking operations, etc.
Stop at: Parque del Mar
Its great salt water lake stands out, symbolizing the sea, which years ago touched the wall. It is surrounded by an esplanade with trees and the area with the most vegetation is at the eastern end, where the children's play area is also located.
This park, in the area of the lake, gives a great sunshine. From the Royal Palace of the Almudaina or from the Paseo Marítimo we can contemplate this large space of one of the main urban parks of the city, with an area of nine hectares.
Stop at: Plaza Mayor
