Dinner at La Pequeña Taberna
For dinner on your second evening, we recommend La Pequeña Taberna, another of the city’s classic restaurants, which offers a menu featuring Murcian dishes including meat, fish, seafood and vegetables. In 2017, this establishment was selected as being Murcia’s finest restaurant for traditional cuisine. Museo Arqueológico de Murcia
Our last visit of the day is to the Museo Arqueológico de Murcia (MAM), which houses a fascinating collection of regional archaeological finds that spans the ages, from pre-history through the Bronze Age to Roman times, a precursor to what you can see tomorrow in Cartagena

Museo Salzillo
Francisco Salzillo is considered one of Spain’s finest Spanish sculptors. And he has his museum here in the centre of Murcia, his native city. This is one of the city’s most important museums, where you can discover the work of this brilliant artist, including pieces such as the Holy Week floats created for the Cofradía de Nuestro Padre Jesús, the impressive eighteenth-century Neapolitan nativity scene, and Salzillo’s nativity scene, with its 556 figures. .

One of Calle Trapería’s best-known buildings is the Real Casino de Murcia [Royal Casino], the elegant headquarters of an institution founded during the nineteenth century — which is still fully operational. Although this is a private club, tours are organised for visitors, who can also use the restaurant.

A walk through Murcia’s historic quarter
Start your visit with a stroll around the pleasant streets of the city of Murcia. To the north of the river Segura in the area around the cathedral, you will find the famous streets of Calle Trapería and Calle Platería within the hub of the city centre. Admire the famous Modernist buildings here, and explore some of the typical shops.

Catedral de Murcia
The Cathedral of Santa María is Murcia’s most important monument. This church, built during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, is an impressive size: its bell tower, at over 90 metres tall, is one of the highest in Spain. Make sure you go inside to see the tomb of King Alfonso X The Wise, as well as the Cathedral Museum.
