Description
Travel from Pamplona to two of Navarre’s most remarkable historic villages on this half-day guided tour led by an expert guide. The route reveals medieval architecture, fortified landmarks and sweeping landscapes connected to the legacy of the former Kingdom of Navarre.
The activity begins at 09:30 heading towards Olite, widely regarded as one of the region’s most beautiful medieval towns. There, you will visit the impressive Royal Palace of Olite, once home to the Navarrese royal court and considered one of Spain’s finest examples of Gothic civil architecture. Its towers, courtyards and defensive walls reflect the grandeur of medieval Navarre.
After visiting the palace, you will walk through Olite’s historic centre, where noble houses, medieval churches and remains of the old Roman walls still shape the character of the town.
The journey continues to Ujué, a small hilltop village surrounded by the open landscapes of central Navarre. During the stop, you will taste traditional shepherd-style breadcrumbs in a local tavern before visiting the Sanctuary-Fortress of Santa María, declared a National Monument and recognised as one of Navarre’s most distinctive medieval sites.
Cobbled streets, panoramic views towards the Pyrenees and the peaceful atmosphere of the village bring this route through historic Navarre to a memorable close.
