Description
Experience the wine heritage of La Rioja on a day trip from Pamplona designed to showcase some of northern Spain’s most distinctive landscapes and flavours. This route travels through historic vineyards, local wineries and medieval villages deeply connected to the region’s winemaking tradition.
The activity takes place in a small group and includes private air-conditioned transport from your hotel or apartment. Over approximately seven hours, you will visit two medium-sized wineries located in the Rioja Alavesa, one of Spain’s most prestigious wine-producing areas. During the visits, you will learn about the cultivation and production methods behind the internationally recognised Rioja D.O., whose development expanded significantly in the late 19th century following the arrival of French winemakers from Bordeaux.
Each winery visit includes a guided tasting led by local specialists, offering insight into grape varieties, ageing techniques and the influence of climate and soil on the wines produced in the region. Along the way, you will also enjoy sweeping vineyard views that shape the landscape of La Rioja.
The journey continues to Laguardia, a medieval hilltop village surrounded by vineyards and known for its historic atmosphere. Its narrow cobbled streets provide the ideal setting to enjoy traditional pintxos paired with local wine.
The scent of oak barrels, centuries-old streets and endless rows of vines create a memorable introduction to Rioja’s wine culture and culinary traditions.
