Description
Spend the day surrounded by mountain landscapes, historic landmarks and local flavours on a route through some of Catalonia’s most iconic locations. From the dramatic peaks of Montserrat to the vineyards of Oller del Mas, this experience offers a relaxed introduction to the region’s cultural and wine-making heritage.
The journey begins in Barcelona before travelling to the village of Monistrol de Montserrat. From there, you will board the traditional Montserrat rack railway, a scenic mountain train with panoramic views over the surrounding countryside and rock formations.
Upon arrival at Montserrat, your local guide will share the history and significance of this Benedictine monastery, one of Catalonia’s most important spiritual sites. The guided visit includes the basilica and monastery, followed by free time to walk around the area, enjoy the viewpoints or browse the local farmers’ market. Subject to availability, visitors may also listen to l’Escolania de Montserrat, recognised as the oldest boys’ choir in Europe.
The route then continues towards Oller del Mas, an organic family-run winery located beside Montserrat. Set within a medieval castle dating back to the 10th century, the estate includes vineyards, historic rooms and wine production areas that can be visited alongside your guide.
The day concludes with a tasting of three local wines accompanied by a selection of cold tapas and regional products. The peaceful atmosphere of the vineyards, the scent of the winery and the mountain views surrounding the castle create a memorable ending filled with authentic Catalan character.
