Description
Spend the day surrounded by mountain landscapes, historic monasteries and organic vineyards on a carefully designed route through Catalonia’s countryside. From the distinctive rock formations of Montserrat to the medieval estate of Oller del Mas, this experience brings together local gastronomy, wine culture and heritage in a relaxed atmosphere.
The journey begins in central Barcelona before heading towards Monistrol de Montserrat. From there, you will travel aboard the traditional Montserrat rack railway, a scenic mountain train offering panoramic views across the surrounding countryside and cliffs before reaching the monastery.
During the guided visit, your local guide will share the history, legends and cultural significance of Montserrat, one of Catalonia’s most important spiritual landmarks. After visiting the basilica and monastery, you will have free time to walk around the area, enjoy the mountain scenery or browse the local farmers’ market. Subject to availability, visitors may also listen to l’Escolania de Montserrat, recognised as the oldest boys’ choir still active in Europe.
The route continues towards Oller del Mas, a family-run organic winery located inside a medieval castle dating back to the 10th century. Before visiting the winery, a multi-course local lunch paired with regional wines will be served at the estate restaurant.
Later in the afternoon, the guided winery visit includes the vineyards, the historic family cellar and selected private areas of the castle. Along the way, you will learn about the production process behind the estate’s organic wines and the sustainable philosophy that shapes the project. The experience concludes with a tasting of three carefully selected organic wines.
The sound of the mountain railway, the scent of ageing barrels and the peaceful rhythm of the vineyards create a memorable atmosphere throughout the day, offering a genuine connection with Catalonia’s landscapes and traditions.

- Free time in Montserrat is not sufficient to visit the museum or use the funicular

- Return travel time to Barcelona may vary depending on traffic conditions
