    “A Palatial Palace”

    Stepping out of the (great value) taxi in the wonderful old City ... looking back over my shoulder at a bustling square, I stepped into the enchanting atrium of the Barcelo Palace. The beautiful reception area staffed by English speaking customer service professionals was among the best I’ve stayed in around the world. Excellent rooms .. nay Suites.. and superb breakfast made the stay very comfortable and this is now my preferred destination hotel for my many business trips to this city. Easy walk to the real heart of Brno and the many traditional and international restaurants and bars. Superb.

    “Nice Hotel with very bad service ”

    The title says it all. The hotel is very good from a structural point of view: nice design, clean, good location, large and comfortable rooms, etc. (one exception: the parking situation is not good) However, as soon as you deal with any service or with the staff, it becomes a nightmare: - most of the staff does not speak English, but would not tell you and simply say yes to all your questions - the receptionist is way too unexperienced and couldn’t care less about you (do not expect any help for parking, problems or questions from the reception) - the parking service is a catastrophe: cars are mixed up (we got first the wrong car with keys) and timing were not respected (we asked the night before and waited for our car to be delivered at 6:45 and we got the wrong car at 07:10 and the correct one at 07:25. This is a big problem if you need to leave to the airport)

    “Pathetic Hotel. Loud trams outside, Rude management”

    There are trams running pretty much all day and night outside of this hotel. So our room would literally shake. Like an earthquake. So if you like earthquakes, definitely stay here! Another room we had was on the top floor and EXTREMELY hot. AC was not working. However the service and treatment by management was what was most appalling. When we asked them to help with an issue we were having, we got rude replies and nothing was solved. Ivanna, the manager, even asked us "What do we want" when we very clearly told her what the problem was, and how to fix it. She did nothing but give us attitude and ignored the problem. She's not very good at her job and should be replaced. Breakfast Buffet was ok. Decent food choices but lots of items were cold and gross. Front desk David was helpful.

    “Beautiful hotel”

    I am sure this is the best hotel in town - a beautiful building sympathetically taken over by Barcelo and made into a modern and welcoming hotel. The atrium is gorgeous with a soaring roof and comfy seating with pretty lighting at night. We loved the glass lift that went up the outside. Staff were welcoming and helped with maps and directions. We loved our room - it was on the top floor and had great skylights that opened electronically to let in fresh air but meant the room was completely private. The black and white photos of the city on the walls gave a fantastic sense of place. The room was really comfy and the bathroom was great. Breakfast was 15 euros each so we went out - there are an abundance of places to get food and drink. We enjoyed Brno and if we are passing through again, we will definately stay here.

    “Great Return”

    We have been here a few times in the past 2 decades. It had been 8 years since the last time we stayed here. The hotel did not disappoint, since the last time we visited, it has been taken over by Barcelo group. The hotel has been well maintained and some area's previously not yet refurbished have been improved. Service was excellent. Breakfast simply great. Beds and bathroom (we stayed in a suite) were perfect. Moreover, the neighbourhood has improved significantly, it is a short walk to any hip restautants, bars, clubs, coffee places, etc. The perfect location for a couples retreat for a romantic city weekend escape.
