    “A Good Week”

This is a very large hotel and ticks off everything needed for large hotels. Rooms are big, clean and comfy. The bathroom is split with bath, shower and toilet in behind a door and the sink on the other side. Not much noise coming from other rooms. Music from other bars at night could be heard. A real range of guests. Families, young couples, older couples, friends etc and again, the hotel does the basics right. Every staff member was great from bar, reps, maintenance, cleaners, gardeners, entertainers etc. Couldn’t fault a single one. The food was decent. Quite repetitive but nice enough. Always a good amount of choice. Quite busy at times and sometimes noisy with a lot of kids about. Show cooking could take a while for fish, steaks, chicken etc and it was covered in oil. Pizza, chips, fish, nuggets, pasta on every night so even the basic of fussy eaters would find something. I particularly enjoyed the varieties of fish. Breakfast was good. Omelettes, pancakes, bacon, egg, continental, fruits and cereals. Easy to eat rubbish but also plenty of ‘healthy’ choices. Sometimes slow with drinks so tip to order 2 at a time. No long trousers required. No swimming shorts or flip flops in evening but some people still wore them. Depending on time you eat it could get busy and a bit of a scramble with people all over the place. All inclusive had a snack bar available 11:00 - 17:00. This was very good. Salads, meats, chips, sausage, burgers and a toastie machine. Help yourself to soft drinks, wines, juices and a beer tap you just pulled yourself. (Let it run for a second or two before filling up your cup) 2 pools. Both saltwater. One heated one freezing but nice when you’re in! Loads of sun beds however majority reserved early morning. Didn’t really struggle to get one though so not sure why people insist on reserving them. Underneath flight path and only 15 min transfer so a good place to plane spot every 10 mins or so. No real problem with the noise. Gates lead to a nice promenade and a wide beach. Have to pay for sun beds on beach. (€7 each) Few shops, bars etc in the local area. Knock off market on Saturday selling all the usual fake stuff. Never buy anything for the asking price! Classic lucky lucky. Supermarket close by. Good opportunities for evening walks (or electric scooter ride) around the area and spot some chipmunks. Activities were ok. Options to cater for most people. Loads for young kids. Free wifi throughout the hotel and pool which was a nice touch. TV in bar showing all football. Plenty of sport pubs about. Evening entertainment was average. Jersey Boys and Beatles tribute, couple of circus acts, an opera singer and a 60s - 80s band. Kids seemed to enjoy the kids disco and the staff during this were excellent. Didn’t use the spa but looked very good. Gym well equipped and free for hotel guests. (€.50 for a towel if you don’t have one) Good quality cardio and weights machines. Crazy golf was about €6.00 each which seemed a lot. Tennis courts and football pitch available for free I believe. Beach volleyball courts also. Aloe bar had nice seating area and doubled up for a restaurant 2 nights of the week. A fair few stray cats wandering the grounds but they don’t cause trouble. A good hotel in a nice, small, family friendly resort. Some people will always find something to moan about!

“Beautiful hotel, but sort out the sunbeds!!!”

Just arrived back today (a couple of hours ago) from the Barcelo. Myself and my 10 year old daughter went for a 4 night break over Easter, hoping for a relaxing break in the sun. Such a shame that out of the 4 days only one day was sunny, not the Hotel's fault but after saving for a whole year I was less than joyful! We had a standard room that was immaculate and very big - very happy with the standard of the room. The only couple of things (maybe three) that let down this great hotel were having to wait over 20 minutes to get checked in on arrival. We were then told at the bar that it was a cashless hotel, I was not told this when I booked the holiday and had taken all my savings in cash (euros) with me. As I only have the one credit card that is virtually at its limit I went into panic mode. Luckily I spoke to a couple who were also staying there and they pointed out that I could upgrade and the prices were on offer so I ended up paying 144 euros to upgrade to all inclusive, which was the best decision ever!!! saved myself a fortune on drinks and ice creams! Peggy our cleaning lady was an absolute gem, she did a cracking job and we left her plenty of euros as tips as, as a cashless hotel, I must imagine are far and few between. The sunbeds... There are notices at both ends of the pool areas stating that you must not reserve sun beds. Folk were out at 6.30, 7.00 am putting towels out. As much as I hate doing it as it goes against the rules I had no choice but to get up at 7.00am every day and drag my daughter out of bed to reserve 2 beds for later otherwise nothing would be left by 8.30! In fairness, every day we did go round the pool by 8.15am so its not like we vanished half the day like some people did. Food was a little repetitive but there was a massive choice of different foods for people to choose from. Steak was amazing! The entertainment needs sorting, very hit and miss.. we did see two great shows, one being The Pin Up Circus which my daughter enjoyed very much. (parents and carers really need to control their kiddies, even my own daughter found them annoying as they screamed and ran about late at night) Seriously considering going back next year but not sure I can face getting up so early every morning....

“Good modern facilities but staff lack smiles”

Booked to stay here for two nights before heading back to uk as wanted to try the spa. Upon check in the staff were more like your average business hotel front desk staff unlike all other resorts staff we have met who were always friendly and lots of smiles so first impression wasn’t so good. Booked a family suite which was clean modern and had a separate room with bunk beds for kids and two shower rooms. Rooms were clean with things provided like bathrobe and slippers. Had half board but when when down for diner staff asked for check in card and wasn’t happy when we said we only had room card and rom number. She had a long face and told us off to must remember to bring the check in card every time we dine. I mean we had the wrist band and room key why the hell we need a check in card at diner time? Always long queue to get food from live cooking and food was average not great. Evening shows were professional and great and ran until 10:30-11 most nights. Location is good but our kids said the pool water was salty so they didn’t want to swim in there. Overall a more modern business hotel feel wouldn’t call it a family oriented or great kids entertainment resort.

    “Easter sun”

Barcelo is an excellent and reliable brand and Fuereventura Thalasso Spa is an excellent location. Had Superior room so pool towels and Spa use automatic. Very friendly staff with Yasmir in the main bar providing great service drinks arrived without needing to ask. Louise was the star of the entertainment team which a little shaky to start with soon got better after Aaron arrived to give some needed organisation. Solid 4 star hotel with 5 star staff! Great for young families as no late night stuff going on. Did mean they struggled to get numbers for some daytime activities though.

    “Excellent week”

Clean hotel in great location, nice staff and food and close to a lovely beach - also a plus to only be a 10 minute drive from the airport so your holiday get going quickly. Not too much to see locally but the hotel and grounds and beach were more than enough...
