Cappadocia is a region with thousands of years of history. It is located about 800 kilometres from Istanbul and the most convenient way to get there is by plane, a flight that takes just over an hour from the city. Its iconic landscapes stretch for hundreds of kilometres, but there are certain places that are a must-see.
The epicentre of Cappadocia's activity is in Göreme. Here you will find the National Park, named after the city, and also known as the Göreme Open Air Museum. Some of the most important landmarks here are there are churches, carved directly into the rock, as well as the Fairy Chimneys, a cluster of unique rocky columns. From here you can easily reach several villages in Cappadocia and there are also several walking trails.
Other must-see spots on your visit are the various valleys of Cappadocia. One of the most recommended is the Pigeon Valley, which you can reach on a 5 km route from Göreme that ends at the rather interesting Uçhisar Castle. The Pasabag Valley or Monks Valley, the Devrent Valley or Imagination Valley and the Love Valley are also worth mentioning.
