    “Better than we expected”

After reading the very few negative reviews we were not surprised at how beautiful the resort was.We were shocked at the cleanliness and friendliness of this resort. Most of the staff were amazing and spoke enough english to get by. The pool and Lobby bar service was incredible. Our best a-la carte was Las Brisas(food and service). The others were just OK. Buffet had a good selection but got tiring after 5 days. In my opinion the only thing keeping this resort from being 5star is the food and the service. Absolutely nothing else to make note about that was below par.

    “First time all inclusive.”

The place is very nice, the employee are even nicer. Thanks "A Rod" Alex Rodriguez, our fav bar tender. My wife and I travel around the Caribbean every year and never do an all inclusive,. After a few days we learned the system on how to get a drink the way we want. The only issue we had with the drinks, we are wine drinkers and the wine they served was HORRIBLE and that's being polite. You can always order a bottle at dinner, for a fee, which were incredibly expensive. Example I paid $135.00 for the exact same wine I get here in NY for $17.00. That's a bit of a turn off , and at these restaurants with the swill wines, they try to serve, you cant even get a drink, so you are forced to drink crap or pay up. That policy should be changed. The food at the restaurants was excellent and plentiful and the wait staff are super. Another small issue we had was, its rains in Punta Cana and the room we had on the third floor had gutters that leaked like they were not even there. Its a simple fix which I just did to my house, and before they completely destroy the rooms on the first floor, which smelled like mold,as they tried to put us in first floor because I paid for superior room but settle for normal room with the odor. One more thing that they may want to change, and I just found out today that not all resorts do this. One day I started to get a little hungry and my wife was not, and we really didn't want to get off the beach, I walked into the buffet, put a piece of pizza on a napkin and tried to go back to the beach. That's not allowed here which is fine if they had a shack or something near the beach or pool to grab something, pizza, burger, not a meal just something small. I know other resorts have something, We will probably go back to PC and most likley stay here again, The good things way out weighted these trivial issues

    “Upgrade to premium level”

We have just returned from this resort. We stayed from Feb 17-24 2017.We first stayed at this resort 16 years ago when it had the five resorts. The Beach, The Garden, The Casino, The Golf and The Palace. We have stayed 4 more times here and have seen the many changes. The changes have improved the property over the years so we decided to stay there once again. We did the upgrade to the Ocean Front Sun Deck Premium Level at the Adults (old Palace). The only other upgrade available would be the suite.. We where very disappointed with the room. After the millions of dollars in so called renovations, we determined that paint must be really expensive. There weren't even king beds available, they pushed two queens together. Really. The bathroom was another disappointment. It had a standard tub with a shower with the toilet in it. The Junior Suites where we stayed before with the children had a beautiful bathroom with a big modern walk in shower with a double sink and the toilet separate. The Junior Suites also had a Jacuzzi on every patio. The Adults Only didn't. The Adults Only also didn't have beach service There used to be a beach restaurant to the extreme left of the property right next door to the Market on the beach. The beach restaurant had barbequed burgers hotdogs pork chops etc. and they had a full bar.. Now it serves coconut and pineapple juice!!! So now for the four Adult only beach area there is one bar that services approximately 1200 to 1400 feet of beach and pool area. The restaurants have now gone to beer and wine which isn't a big deal if you like beer or wine. The staff was all friendly and helpful , The food was excellent. Can't image ever going back

“Great Visit in Paradise, Barcelo Delivers”

My girlfriend and I traveled to the Barceló Bavaro Beach Resort June 27-July 3, 2017 along with another couple. We booked a Vacation Express package using Swift Air on a charter flight. We really enjoyed this trip and the Barceló property in Punta Cana is beautiful. We enjoyed staying on the adult’s only side and getting the peace and quiet during the day. Then at night you can visit the palace side for the nightlight, great restaurants and the casino. We did very well playing blackjack at the casino! Overall a great trip, it wasn’t perfect but we paid $1,000 per person for six nights which included an upgrade to first class on the fight to PC. For the value it was outstanding. Rooms-We had a basic room. The room itself was modern and very comfortable. Mini Fridge with water and beer. The bed was so comfortable, we slept well all week. The bathroom tub was very outdated. We like the open rain showers like most modern resorts have, the tub and shower combo here is old school, like a best western in the US. The bathroom did have double sinks and lots of room which was nice. We would rate the room a 7 out of 10 because of the bathtub. Service-We had good service all around at the resort. It wasn’t great because we felt like no one really went out of their way to remember our name or make us feel at home. I have been to Punta Cana 6 times and at other resorts the bar staff would remember your name and make you feel at home, I never really experienced that here. However, the bar staff always served us quickly and worked hard, they did their job. Never had to wait long for a drink and that is what matters most. The service in the restaurants was very good. The gentleman at the front desk was good as well. I did take $200 one dollar bills and tipped everyone very well, so keep that in mind. Restaurants-This is where Barceló Bavaro Beach and the Palace excel compared to other all-inclusive resorts I have visited. La Brisa was very nice, you could feel the wind and hear the waves while eating on the beach. Kyoto was also great. We ate on the sushi bar side, we are not hibachi people and the wait was long. The sushi was fresh and the service here was outstanding. No the sushi isn’t as good as a place in the US but very good for an all-inclusive. Our favorite was Chez Gourmet. We could have eaten at this place every night. It rivals a top Restaurant in NYC or Dallas. The Chicken Gordon Bleu was amazing. The tapas Spanish place on the Palace side was also solid. We didn’t have a bad meal. I surprised my girlfriend with a private dinner on the beach one night. What an unbelievable experience. The butler who served our meal was awesome, I wish I could remember his name. This is highly recommended. Beach/Pools-This stretch of Bavaro Beach is beautiful. There is hardly any waves, great for wading. There were always plenty of beach chairs. I wish they had papalas on the beach but they don’t. There was enough palm trees to give me ample shade though. The pool at the Barceló Bavaro Beach is OK. I can’t believe there isn’t a swim up bar on the adult side. This is my biggest complaint about the resort. They have swim up bars on the palace side but they are full with kids. Why wouldn’t you have a swim up bar on the adult side? The weird thing is the pool was built for one with the way the chill out bar is laid out. We really missed the swim up bar experience. Nexus Tours-Our rep at the resort was not great. He kept bugging me to go to the orientation. I have been to Punta Cana six times, I am not wasting one hour at a sales pitch orientation. Also we already had an excursion booked with Hispaniola Aquatic Adventures, which is the best excursion company in Punta Cana. The only thing we needed nexus for was the private round trip transportation that we booked with another couple. Once we skipped the orientation then the rep. on site was rude. I left him two messages telling him that we wanted to ride together to the airport with the other couple we were with. On the day we left he did not set it up right and there were two different Nexus vehicles waiting for us (we both booked round trips). When we told the two drivers we wanted to ride together they started yelling and arguing. The vans were big enough for 8 people. Ridiculous. Honestly as an experienced traveler I am getting tired of the tour companies. Travelers should be able to do what they want on their vacations and shouldn’t have to track down a tour rep. multiple times for a ride home, THIS IS VACATION. Ok rant over. Great trip. We love Punta Cana and the Barceló properties. And Vacation Express is a great value. Going back to PC this June with VE and staying at the Punta Cana Princess All Suites Resort.
