Barceló Bávaro Palace reviewed by Jess3912 on . Bavaro Palace Really big resort, mediocre food and entertainment. Rooms could be more clean. Compared to other resorts in the area this resort is not "all-inclusive." No family entertainment, wasn't told what was... Rating: 2

“My wife and I went to the Barcelo for our 10th year anniversary.”

The overall service was very good. The food was overall good; although the sushi at Kotoyo needs some improvement. The wifi signal was "good enough." However, when you're being charge for wifi, when it should be free, it should work excellently. Also, as a wheelchair user, we went over our check-out time by 1 hour. At no time did the front desk ever give us a courteousey call; instead, when I told the front desk this, they still charged us a surcharge of $60. And that was our last thought of The Barcelo Palace. To The Barcelo's detriment, my wife and I we were also staying at the Hard Rock to complete our trip. Yes you guessed it, we'll just say that life is different at the Hard Rock, so much so that we've become Legendary Club Members after 1 night!

“4 stars, seriously??? stolen wallets, apathetic staff, horrible food”

Not sure how this place got 4 stars. Very little staff, and not trained as one would expect in the service industry, most of staff is clueless. Not relaxed when you have to watch over your safe and worry about having items stolen from your room , which happened to 5 in our group of 22. Staff does nothing about it, but shrug their shoulders. Minimal security, and they do nothing. Food was awful except for Japanese restaurant. Makes my daughter's college cafeteria look like a 4 star restaurant. Lowest quality food possible, waited 2 hours for dinner with reservations, and found the waiters serving it off the buffet in the seafood restaurant. Fake powdered drinks, you cant even get real OJ in the morning. Tubs of mayo drenched yuck at the salad bar, desserts that look like they are made out of play dough, fake mashed potatoes, fake everything, flies. Rooms are adequate but tired. Would like to know the last time it was renovated. Better speak fluent Spanish if you want to be serviced or communicate with staff. overall rating is below average. They need an major overhaul in the food /service department. time for update with dress code as well. Men should be able to wear khaki golf shorts, as women have no restrictions on what they wear to dinner as long as it is not a bathing suit. If you require male guests to wear dress pants, then serve the food that one would expect, rather than 2 hours late ,mushy, lobster. owners should be ashamed of the product they deliver for the price they ask.

    “Very nice!”

I would like to start with the negative, cleaning issues in the room, we were 3 adults and 3 kids, the bathroom weren't cleaning very often, the floor the jacuzzi. The french cuisine isn't that good and is paid, the Santa Fe Steaks cuisine the waiters was a mess. But the supervisor came and trate is very well and resolve the issue. The worst food was the 19 hole and we were the re for almost 230 with the kids very very slow to serve. The front desk never told us about the upgrade to premium we would have paid for. Now the good, the seafood restaurant 5 stars food excellent the service and the buffet area is incredible everything I ask they bring. The beach espectacular the service around the pool good, the bartender excellent, the kids pool area very nice. In general very good.

    “Not interested in going back”

Only a hand full of employees made our stay enjoyable. Everyone is expecting a tip and I can appreciate those that go above and beyond but not those doing their job. Unless you are spanish speaking and I mean fluently don't go. They definitely cater to those who are of hispanic decent. Zero sense of empathy for things that go wrong. The room was great, we booked the junior suite which is the basic room but it was spacious and clean. The mini bar is not what you expect. Only coors light cans and soda and water even though the all inclusive includes alcohol. The restaurants are okay nothing crazy expect the Tokyo restaurant which was hibachi. Best place to eat even the steak. The other restaurants their quality of food was not what i expected. Overall just not great customer service. We missed out on the nightly shows because we weren't informed during check in. However upon checking out I noticed the rep explaining in thorough detail all of the inclusive accommodations and non inclusive activities to the group that were speaking spanish. Once again we felt as though we were not catered to like other guests and we tipped just as much sometimes more.
