    “Comfortable Bed”

    A bit expensive for this area. Hotel is situated south of the main section of beach which is nice as it is quieter here. We had a king suite city view room. The bed was really comfortable, that was the best thing about this place. The rooms are roomy but very dated. We stayed off season in June and the place was pretty empty, I felt for the price we paid they should have upgraded us to an ocean view room. If they did, perhaps I would have stayed another night. Food was mediocre, typical buffet style with minimum variety. This is an 'all inclusive' and priced that way but they don't offer as much as all inclusive hotels I have visited in the caribbean for example. You are allowed three meals but we didnt have lunch as it is served well after you check out and immediately when you check in so you can miss it. Staff were friendly and helpful. Considering how inexpensive restaurants are in this area, stay somewhere else and spend the savings on better food.

    “Not worth the price”

    Good location, but that is about it. Sea view room could barely see the ocean, poor checkin experience, not given explanation why we couldn’t get a higher floor when we paid additional for sea view. Food was not good at all.

    “Boutique Great Hotel With Top Service”

    This location in Salinas, Ecuador of a major hotel chain has got it right - service, service, service. It was a joy to stay here for even every staff member as we passed by said hello, and at the buffets (which were terrific) they seemed more than happy to continually ask us if we needed anything. The reservation was quick and all were so kind that it was like visiting a friend's home. And in addition the hotel has two large pools and exercise equipment and room with all the amenities. And let me not forget the fabulous rooms with great views, balconies, and top bedding. I must add that the hotel made a mistake in our reservation, giving us a lower rate, yet they gladly honored it. I was a class act showing how wonderful this hotel is and what a wonderful major hotel chain it is, which we had stayed at before and received that same great service. That's what makes great hotels! By the way don't miss the the La Chocolatera site, great for photos in Salinas, and the La Loberia Beach which is fantastic too. Both are inside the nearby Naval Base.

    “Very poor cleanliness”

    I was incredibly disappointed by this hotel. The main issue was the cleanliness of the rooms. We checked in and all the lights were out in the lobby...it was the middle of the day...I thought that was pretty strange...at first nobody was there to greet us. When we got to our room I immediately felt like the room was not clean. There were dirty surfaces throughout the room and the bathrooms. The furniture was filthy. When we called the receptionist didn't seem surprised and just asked if we wanted to switch rooms. We switched to another room and that room was dirty as well. House keeping then came to re-clean the second room. They were very nice but the room remained fairly dirty with grime on the toilet and surfaces not entirely wiped down. The furniture couldn't be cleaned because it was too far gone and in my opinion needed to be replaced. I am not familiar with the hotel but I believe I was in one of the higher end rooms - located in the "new" part of the hotel with views of the beach. Service at the pool was terrible. The bar tender was rude to my boyfriend and one of the bars was closed for no reason so it was difficult to get anything from the one small bar open. When I emailed the hotel with pictures of the dirty rooms they merely apologized. I would not stay at a Barcelo again based on this experience.

    “Hotel correct sans plus...”

    Pour un Barcelo, nous n'étions vraiment pas à celui du Nicaragua...Hotel, juste correct. Pour un tout inclus, c'était vraiment étrange. Peut-être est ce dû au fait que ce n'est pas une destination que l'on se rend avec un tour...3 piscines, dont, une nouvelle, pas ouverte. Un snack à la deuxième piscine. Un buffet...euh...le pire buffet, côté choix que nous avons jamais eu, même si l'on trouvait tjrs un petit quelque choses à manger. Pas bcp de clients dans l'hôtel, on peut comprendre que le choix du menu sois restreint, mais à ce point? Je crois que selon le prix que l'on a payé, cela aurait été préférable d'aller manger dans les restos alentour. Mais, le vin rouge était excellent ;-) Mais encore là, dans notre tout inclus, le vin était gratuit, mais pour avoir une btl du même vin, 34$ US...EUH....J'ai l'impression que l'hôtel n'est pas simplement un hôtel, mais aussi des appartements, pcq sur plusieurs balcons, il y avait des BBQ, des palmiers, des décos...Nous avons soupé à l'hotel au resto à la carte au GRILL (qui, si on ne se renseigne pas, on ne sait pas comment le trouver...il est au BUFFET, mais avec un menu ;-)) C'était très bon, mais encore là, il n'y avait pas tout le menu, pas de langoustes, ni de homards...mais leurs desserts, peut facilement être pour 4 personnes et sont très bons. Notre chambre était vraiment bien, très épurée et assez grande pour y installer une allée de Bowling...une suite junior,premier plancher à 10 pieds de l'océan pacifique. Avec les vagues que nous avons eues, je pensais que l'océan cognerait à notre porte. Nous avions wi-fi dans la chambre. L'hôtel est très bien situé à Salinas, sur toute la plage il y a internet gratuit.
