Royal Chapel: the last wish of the Catholic Monarchs
One of the most impressive moments in Granada is the Royal Chapel, the place where the Catholic Monarchs, Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon, rest. Their impressive mausoleums, sculpted in Carrara marble by the master Domenico Fancelli, reflect the grandeur with which they wanted to be remembered.
But the Royal Chapel doesn't just house the Catholic Monarchs. Here, too, lie the remains of your daughter,Juana I of Castile, known as Juana la Loca, and her husband,Philip the Handsome. Their tombs, full of symbolism, tell us about a story of love, power and tragedy that continues to arouse curiosity centuries later.
On this visit, we will also explore the interior of the Chapel, where they arevaluable works of art, reliquaries and the impressive main altarpiece, which represents the devotion of the monarchs.
