The Los Gigantes cliffs are one of the oldest geological formations in Tenerife and one of the most impressive natural landscapes in the Canary Islands. This cycling route takes you through the island’s southwest coast, combining ocean views, traditional villages and demanding climbs.
The ride begins in Playa de las Américas, heading towards Adeje before joining the TF-47 road, which runs along Tenerife’s southwest coastline. Along the way you will enjoy beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean.
During the ride you will pass through charming fishing villages such as Playa de San Juan and Alcalá, where on clear days you can see the nearby island of La Gomera on the horizon.
Upon reaching Los Gigantes, there will be a stop to admire the impressive cliffs before tackling the main challenge of the day: the climb to Tamaimo. This ascent is approximately 10 kilometres long with an average gradient of around 7%, making it a true test of strength and endurance.
After reaching Tamaimo, only a few more kilometres of climbing remain before beginning the descent through Chío and Guía de Isora, completing a route that perfectly combines coastal and mountain scenery.
The route covers approximately 68 km, with an elevation gain of around 1,385 metres and an estimated duration of about 3 hours and 20 minutes, making it ideal for cyclists looking for a sporting challenge while discovering some of Tenerife’s most iconic landscapes.
