Description
Puerto de la Cruz is one of the most emblematic destinations in northern Tenerife and the place where tourism in the Canary Islands first began. Long before large holiday resorts existed, European travellers drawn by the mild climate, botanical richness and health benefits of the environment chose this town as their place to stay.
Today, despite being the smallest municipality in the archipelago, its population density makes it one of the most vibrant on the islands. On this excursion, you will have free time to explore at your own pace and discover its traditional atmosphere, lively squares and seafront areas.
You can stroll through Plaza del Charco, the true heart of the town, walk along the Paseo de San Telmo or visit Playa Jardín, with its black sand and landscaped gardens designed by César Manrique. You may also choose to visit the Lago Martiánez complex, created by the same artist, or explore the Botanical Garden, one of the town’s best-known green spaces.
Beyond these landmarks, Puerto de la Cruz is home to historic sites such as the Chapel of San Telmo and Sitio Litre, an 18th-century residence that once hosted notable visitors including Agatha Christie and Alexander von Humboldt.
