Description
Just a short distance from Agadir, the Souss Massa National Park protects one of the most important ecosystems in southern Morocco. Established in 1991, this natural area combines wetlands, estuaries and semi-arid landscapes that provide shelter for a wide range of species.
The experience begins with hotel pick-up and a journey of around 40 minutes to the park. Once there, the route explores different natural areas, accompanied by a guide who provides insight into local biodiversity and ongoing conservation programmes.
During the visit, you will explore the surroundings of Oued Souss and Oued Massa, two key areas where migratory birds can be observed, along with emblematic species such as the Northern bald ibis. These estuaries play a crucial role as breeding and resting sites for many bird species.
The itinerary also includes access to the visitor centre, where the park’s conservation efforts are explained. These include breeding programmes for North African ungulates such as the oryx, addax and Dorcas gazelle, as well as initiatives to reintroduce the North African ostrich.
Throughout the tour, wildlife observation is combined with gentle walks and explanations about the balance of this protected environment, home to hundreds of species including birds, mammals and reptiles.
By the end of the visit, you will have gained a deeper understanding of a landscape where each species and habitat forms part of a carefully preserved natural balance.
