We will pick you up by coach with our guide at the selected time and meeting point to begin your Caminito del Rey excursion from Málaga. During the journey, you’ll enjoy the scenic drive along Málaga and the Costa del Sol towards Ardales, where we’ll make a short stop for breakfast (not included) before continuing to the northern access of the Caminito del Rey, where the walk begins.
This excursion to the Caminito del Rey is the most comfortable and straightforward way to visit this unique site, whose construction began in 1901 and was completed in 1905. Built in the context of economic growth, it is regarded as a true marvel of engineering. Accompanied by our guide, who is passionate about the history of this remarkable place, you’ll discover the story and secrets of the area, as well as the reasons behind the construction of the walkways along the gorges of Los Gaitanes and El Gaitanejo—spanning a total of 7.7 kilometres and inaugurated in 1925 by King Alfonso XIII.
Over approximately 4 hours, you will walk around 4.8 kilometres starting from the northern entrance in Ardales. You’ll pass through tunnels—mind your head!—enjoy views of the Guadalhorce River dam, and descend the famous “chocolate staircase”, surrounded by the charm of the area’s characteristic Mediterranean vegetation.
Don’t forget to take a photo from the glass viewpoint, where you can leave your vertigo behind as you stand on a platform more than 100 metres above the ground, gazing down at the breathtaking landscape beneath your feet. From there, you’ll continue through the gorges towards the southern access at El Chorro Reservoir, along pedestrian walkways nearly 3 kilometres long and just 1 metre wide.
At the end of this unforgettable high-altitude experience—reaching up to 105 metres at the suspension bridge over the Gaitanes Gorge—you will return your helmets and arrive at the southern access point in El Chorro, where the coach will be waiting to take you back to your original departure point in Málaga or along the Costa del Sol.
