Discover one of Andalusia’s most distinctive routes with this excursion to the Caminito del Rey, a striking walkway suspended along steep gorges that has become a benchmark of engineering and active tourism.
The experience begins with pick-up in Málaga or various points along the Costa del Sol, followed by a coach journey inland. A short stop is made in Ardales, where you will have free time for breakfast before continuing to the northern access point of the trail.
Accompanied by a specialised guide, you will start the walking route along pathways, tunnels and natural trails through the Gaitanes Gorge. Along the way, you will learn about the origins of this structure, built in the early 20th century in connection with the area’s hydroelectric development.
Over approximately four hours, you will cover around 4.8 kilometres, surrounded by rock walls, Mediterranean vegetation and wide views over the landscape. The route passes key points such as the Guadalhorce River Dam, the well-known “chocolate staircase” and several viewpoints rising more than 100 metres above the gorge.
One of the most memorable moments comes when crossing the suspended footbridge, offering a unique perspective over the canyon. At the end of the route, you will reach the southern access point in El Chorro, where the coach will be waiting for the return journey.
An experience that combines nature, history and the sensation of walking between towering cliffs in a truly singular setting.
