Step inside one of Málaga’s most important landmarks through a guided visit to its magnificent Cathedral. Located in the heart of the historic centre, this monumental building reflects centuries of architectural evolution and cultural heritage.
Popularly known as “La Manquita” due to its unfinished southern tower, the Málaga Cathedral began construction during the 16th century on the site of the city’s former main mosque. Throughout the visit, your official guide will explain the different phases of its construction and the artistic influences that shaped this outstanding Renaissance monument.
Inside the Cathedral, you will admire its soaring central nave, the remarkable main altar, richly decorated chapels and the impressive choir stalls, regarded as one of the finest examples of Spanish Baroque woodwork. The route also reveals how traces of Málaga’s Islamic past remained connected to the later Christian construction.
Before entering the Cathedral, the itinerary passes through several emblematic locations in Málaga’s old town, including the surroundings of El Pimpi, the exterior of the Picasso Museum and the elegant Plaza del Obispo.
