Description
Step into Málaga’s past with this guided tour through some of the city’s most important historical landmarks. The experience brings together Roman, Muslim and Christian heritage in a single route designed to reveal the different cultures that shaped Málaga over the centuries.
The visit begins at the Roman Theatre, the city’s main surviving monument from ancient “Malacca”, originally built during the 1st century under Roman rule. From there, you will continue to the impressive Alcazaba of Málaga, an 11th-century palatial fortress located on the slopes of Mount Gibralfaro and considered one of the finest examples of Muslim architecture in Andalusia.
As you walk through the historic centre, you will also pass some of Málaga’s best-known cultural spots, including the famous El Pimpi Winery and the surroundings of the Picasso Museum, closely connected to the city’s artistic identity.
The route concludes inside the Cathedral of Málaga, popularly known as “La Manquita” because of its unfinished tower. During the visit, you will learn about the cathedral’s Renaissance architecture and its connection to the former Great Mosque that once occupied the same site.
