Description

Everything You Need to Know

Discover the impressive legacy of Xàtiva, the birthplace of famous historical figures and one of the most beautiful cities in Spain.

Xàtiva is synonymous with abundance—thanks to its rich history, strong cultural influence, and diverse, flavorful gastronomy. This small city of nearly 30,000 inhabitants, though less known internationally, is home to legends and historical treasures that shaped life on the Iberian Peninsula. A true cultural hub, it is the birthplace of the Borja (Borgia) Popes, numerous intellectuals and poets, and even the son of the famous Carthaginian general Hannibal Barca.

On this excursion, you will discover the Castle of Xàtiva, a fortress with nearly 3,000 years of history that offers breathtaking panoramic views. The armies of Hannibal Barca and his elephants once passed through here, and the castle also played a key role during the Reconquest under King James I the Conqueror.

You will explore the old town and its thousand fountains, starting at the Lion Fountain and continuing to the Collegiate Basilica of Santa María, one of the largest churches in Spain. Here, you will learn about the history of the Borja Popes, important Valencian historical figures born in this city. After crossing the market square, we will head to the Fine Arts Museum Casa de l’Ensenyança, where you will learn about the destruction of Xàtiva in 1707.

This excursion is available in two formats:

-Guided Tour Only: You can book just the guided tour and meet the group at the meeting point. It lasts 3.5 hours, starts at 10:00 AM, and includes entrance tickets. We will spend the morning exploring the second-largest historic old town in the Valencian Community and preparing to visit the castle.

-Guided Tour with Transport: Includes transportation from Valencia to Xàtiva plus a complete guided tour led by an official local guide. Departure from Valencia at 8:30 AM. Pick-up and return to Valencia are included.

Come and discover it!
